  • yet more home theatre stuff

Figured I may as well throw my questions into the mix.

Sold my house and just bought a place downtown. I previously had a decent set up (klipsch 25's, onkyo amp, panasonic plasma) but assuming I was going to be moving into a much smaller space, figured those large towers would be too much so I sold the whole lot.

So I'm starting from scratch. Bare in mind what Im trying to do is not going to be nearly as ballin' as what we've seen in some of these other threads

Looking for reccomendations on the below items:

    - 46-55inch LCD tv ~$1500

    - Wall mount for said TV (pretty sure a tilt one would be fine unless arguments can be made for the full motion ones)

    - Small HT speakers. Think bose, but not bose. Must be wall-mountable as well, ideally without some crappy arm-mount. 5.1 ~1200? whats reasonable?

    - HDMI amp ~$400. Wont need anything too fancy to power wee speakers.

Lastly, I know the way I want it to look once set up. My issue is that I dont know where the f--k to put the amp. The whole idea was not to have to put a piece of furniture there, but I may have no option. I think my awesome paint drawing should show my delimma:

Id like to do this without having to literally rip an entire wall of the place down. I recognize Ill have to tear up a good chunk to do what I want, but the only way I can think to solve the above would be some serious reconstruction...running RF and speaker wire across the room...or punching right through into the second bedroom and buildnig a small rack in the closet there...

That is a damn good deal...I love my LG's (2 plasmas/1 LCD) and will probably replace them with LG's again should the time come.

Check this TV out, maybe it would help your cause of where to put everything?

You plug all your connections into a transmitter box and it wirelessly transmits it to the tv. I think these are going to be discontinued though. Would allow you to put your A/V stuff anywhere. I guess you still have to figure out how to get your speaker wires hidden though.

They had them at Future Shop for 1200 including 4 years of warranty so I doubt there's any left at that price.

i was speaking with someone yesterday about wireless 1080p who does high end installs of stuff and he was saying its just not there yet. That no matter what the marketers are saying, you cant get the same quality wirelessly yet. I looked at it as a possible option for my situation, in which running wires is going to be a challenge.
i have zero experiance with it, and the reviews i have found online have been less than helpful, but its something to keep in mind.
