I'm wondering if anyone has, or knows someone with a car trailer. I'm trying to sell my car to a guy in Edmonton but he can't insure it right away. There's enough people making trips back and forth with big trucks and trailers that could likely move a car for some $$$, didn't know if anyone knew of one.

Re: Anyone have a car trailer, moving a car between Calgary/Edmonton
He can't insure the car for one day to get it up there? In BC we use to insure cars for one day all the time but I have never tried to do it in Alberta.Name: Brent
His: '04 TDI Golf Mods: None If it's smoken it ain't broken
Family: '15 Jetta Sportwagon
Fun car: '92 Blue Karmann Crabby Cabby Mods: Coils, front and rear swaybars, LED interior lights and some other old things.

Re: Anyone have a car trailer, moving a car between Calgary/Edmonton
cant do that in AB. the car would have to go back to BC, as the buyer is currently on a BC license but residing in edmonton.
lets keep the jurisdictional/licensing/insurance out of this for now, and more on the topic of car transport.Team Highschool

I think the rates aren't too too bad if you get one from uhaul for a day (50-60$?). Don't know how I feel about putting anything of value on to something with a uhaul badge though.
**i guess you are more looking for someone already doing the trip empty.. nvm.Last edited by stefan; 02-22-2010, 01:56 PM.Stefan

no that could work. i'll have to talk to this guy. I mean if he could find a buddy with a truck and wanted to do a day trip to pick it up and haul it back. i had never thought of that as an option but thanks.Team Highschool

yeah, that makes sense. I think you pay a little extra for one way than you do when you bring it back. I see they have dollies and full decks too.Stefan

Yeah we used full decks. If your car is pretty low, you are going to want to make some longer ramps. We had to take the duckbill off the cabby, as it was catching pretty bad.

Re: Anyone have a car trailer, moving a car between Calgary/Edmonton
driving it up is not an option at the moment as its not insured to be driven (storage insurance) and my plates have expired (no need to renew them until i would need to drive them).
i'm not paying to reregister and insure the car if i'm not driving it for a while. i end up spending a fair bit on both to get the car a distance that is fairly cheap to tow.Team Highschool

By the time you got new tags and even one day insurance it would be pretty close to renting a trailer.
save the hassle and get the trailer, or have the fun and plate the car
