  • Where to buy 30ft. subwoofer cable in town?

Any ideas? I need one in a hurry as it's for my new place and they will be drywalling on Monday? I was just looking around last night and totally forgot about the sub cable...

PS - this is an in-wall application...but I don't think it matters much.

I'm pretty sure if you go to visions and talk to their install bay guys, they will sell you cable by the foot. Not sure how much it'll cost though.

if it's in the wall, buy an extension cord, something like 10/2 or 10/3.
it's copper, should be able to carry some electricity through it.
      put.......put.......

      .... ... .. .

Make it from Coax, and add Mono price ends, I've done it many times.

Really? Had no idea you could do that. I have a ton of coax left over too! How does that work?

Coax is that same thing as a sub cable, a signal in the center and a shielded ground on the outer, 2 conductors.

Put a single gang box at either end of where the jacks will be, rough it in as you would a plug, then finish it off with a single keystone plug.

One thing I found when placing the sub in a different part of the room than where the amp is installed it that there are slightly different voltages and in you have a 3 prong plug on the sup amp power cable, this can create ground loop humm or buzz. Most newer Powered Subs have just a two prong power cord.

I know how much it sucks running wires afterwards.

                Who's the Builder?

                Good luck!

I was going to say the same thing, run RG6 though and not the smaller RG59. I also ran vacuum tubing in the walls with open orange low voltage boxes so I could add wires in the future (basement with drop ceiling).

That's exactly what I've been using for all of my in-wall stuff! Those orange boxes are awesome because 1 1/4 tubing fits perfect in the ends. I'm going to go the RG6 route as I have a ton left over.

On another note, has anybody used the HDMI over cat6 adapters? I noticed Roger bought some but just wondering if anyones actually used them before? I'm thinking about using them off of my splitter for the bar TV and it would be a lot easier to run cat6 than purchasing a 40ft. HDMI cable...
