  • Weigh in time! F40, 430C, GT, 993TT

    Not sure what section I should post this in Blair, feel free to move it if you think it belongs elsewhere.

    This is a weight in we did last spring with our digital scales. Some may have seen these results on other forums but I never shared them with ED before! There was alot of speculation on the net about the Euro Vs. US spec F40's so we had a Euro next door and couldn't resist

            Appearently. I often read the 6speedonline forums, and there seems to be some sick stuff in Vancouver and Montreal, but nothing ever pops up in Calgary.

              Lots of stuff around Some pretty cool rides around here too, not all the same nice cars. I'll try to take some more pictures at some events with the new camera and post them here for everyone.

                      Correct, wasn't us doing the high speed runs.

                      There is actually more than 1 F40 in this city But yes they are definitley rare.

                          Thats a pretty sweet scale. I'm assuming its more usefulness is targeted towards race applications to attempt to balance the car? What does the "CROSS" no. mean? and what does the percentage indicate? I wonder how a MK3 GTI VR6 would measure. Probably 80% of the weight upfront and 20 in the rear....lol.

                            No problem Chris! Except I can't take credit for the pictures themselves, my skills suck

                            You are correct vee_dubbin. A few street only guys would have an interest in corner balancing their vehicle but for the most part it is to setup them up for track use.

                            The CROSS weight is from the LR to the RF, the percentage is based on the cross weight to determine diagonal weight distribution. Idealy you want 50% cross weight to ensure you have the best weight distribution through the corners. If the cross weight is out to lunch, you may have really awesome left hand turns and your right hand turns may understeer. There is alot more to it than that but hopefully that clears it up for you, you can read a ton about corner balancing and setting up your vehicle on the net, make sure to do your research!

                            Don't mind the pictures above as far as actual weights, distribution etc.., it was a little bit of messing around and weight comparison but they weren't being setup for the track at this point in time, this is just a fun project we did
