I can only imagine the paranoia of people actually driving those effected vehicles right now. If I owned one I would be having a long talk with the wife about emergency procedures just in case.

Why? You got the new fancy re-design, if anything I would be more sketched out if I was the 68,000. You had better trust your service department.
Every car with the CTS peddles will get the re-design fix....... just 5 out of the 68,000 tested last week were not aloud to leave the dealership till "fixed".
At the end of the day all 200,000+ cars affected in Canada will get the re-design.....
So "slam on brakes then turn car off" instructions are to hard for people to follow? That would be my first instinct if my car took off on me, that or "It's rally time!"
I think the problem with this is you are going to get those idiots that turn the car all the way off and then lock up the steering wheel and go off the road because they no longer have power assisted braking haha.
from a consumer stand point, I wouldn't give a rats a$$ if only 5 in 68,000 had the defect the fact that there is a known safety defect would scare me.
i wish Mk4 VR6 ig. coils were considered a safety item

I would rather hit something while slowing down then hit something at full throttle going fast

Someone sent me a link regarding some steering issues that Toyota/Lexus is having now. It involves the electronic steering rack.......turning by itself!!
TWO TON ENGINE LIFT/CRANE FOR RENT PM me if you need one!!
Nice gauges though, too bad the steering wheel looks like it is being driven by Micheal J Fox.
