  • Interior Cleaning

Whats the best thing for cleaning the interior for your car? On my civic I've always used armor all. Everything was plastic, it was easy. Would like to hear what other ppl use.

    NEVAR EVAR use Armor All.

For all plastic items I ONLY use 303 Aerospace Protectant (available from Canadian Tire).
For the dash + door panels: I wipe first, then apply.
For door sills + pedal areas: Scrub with a wet brush, dry with a rag, then apply.

Your interior will look minty fresh new once you're done.

Never ever ever ever ever use armor all on your veedub! After a couple uses you will never get that nice dull look your dash and interior piece have. You will be left with a shiny cheap arsed looking interior that will be down right hard to fix. Just use aerospace 303 and never look back :http://www.303products.com/shop303/i...protectant.cfm

PS did I mention never to use armor all?

Edit: baa nisy beat me too it while I was looking up the link

I just let the dust collect, to give it that "lived in" VW feeling haha

Awesome, will grab some 303 aerospace protectant. Thanks for the link! Was not planning on using armor all on the vdub, bit of an upgrade on interior quality compared to a 10yr old civic lol. And D-bomb, I let that happen with the old ride ha ha. But now i gotta clean it to sell it.

Look for an interior protectant that has a matte finish. The gloss ones like armor all actually screw up the plastic. Use just water or mild soap and water to clean. On the carpets nothing beats a steam cleaner if you use it gently.

i've used armor all several times, never had this problem at all. I think its because a lot people over use the product, you don't need to spray it on the parts just dampen a rag with it and wipe on and off. As for any discoloration or damage to the plastic I think that is BS or else armor all would be buying a lot of VWers new interiors.

only complaint with armor all is that it doesn't last very long.

I wouldn't use armour all on the MK4 dashes, just because of the material used. I use Armour all on my MK3 and have never had a problem wiping down the dash to take it off to get the dull look. The MK4 dashes are a lint magnet, and I'm not sure why. They just have a odd texture about them, so I can see why Armour all wouldn't work well with it. But for MK3's Amour All works well!!

I use a few products . number one i use a turtle wax carpet cleaner (with the brush attached to the cap) works awsome , then i use a mild soap to first clean the dash and other parts , then i use mothers interior (its the only mothers products i like) leaves a medium gloss to the surface and smells amazing.
