  • Travel System (stroller/infant seat) suggestions??

So I am going to be a Dad for the first time in June. My wife and I are going crazy trying to pick the perfect seat/stroller combo. We have one that we like but I want to see what people suggest.

She drives a 2007 Mazda 3 Hatch Back. It's got a decent sized trunk but it's not huge. So compactibily matters.

    Price is not any issue.

      congrats.

We never used our stroller and carseat together. Usually took baby out and let her lay flat in the stroller as opposed to staying cramped up in the carseat when not in the car.

However, our stroller has a universal carseat mount, so the carseat does fit, and it works well if you choose to go that way.

Stroller we got was a Bumbleride Indy. It is pretty awesome. Light weight, and pretty easy to collapse and throw in the Jettas. It has the larger wheels so it gets through snow and crap fairly well. Can lock out the swivel on the front wheel so it doesn't drift around if you are on rough/uneven ground.

The car seat we got was a cheapy. In hindsight, I would much rather have had one with the quick adjust where you can pull the straps tight after you buckle up. Baby changes sizes a lot depending on weather and clothes! The first seat I got was awful. When you put the handle back it added so much length to the seat and you had to push the front seat way up to make room. I returned it and got a better design. Still a cheapy though.

yep! i don't think you can get one CSA approved though... so on the off chance you get checked out, you could be fined (or even worse, not insured properly..)

We bought the Peg Perego Pliko3 stroller and car seat. We used it a LOT. What I liked about the combo is when they are really little they sleep all the time so it made it easy to get them in and out of the car. If we were at the mall or something when he woke up we'd pull him out to stretch out. We went everywhere with the bucket. Plus you're not constantly buckling them up and whatnot. Once he was bigger we would take him out of the bucket and in to the stroller which could be used without the car seat.

the car seat had a limitation of about 20 or 22 lbs so we had to get a 3 way seat so it could still rear face. The stroller itself is pretty nice although we have a bit of a tracking problem in the front which in my opinioin is unnaceptable for what you pay. it fits fairly easily in the back of our wagon and always collapses really easy. It's fully adjustable which allows them to sit right up or lay flat and has a 5 point harness, the clips for the car seat can be folded under the seat so it doesn't poke or put pressure.

            Not sure if that helps.

Edit: if you want a really compact stroller Quinny makes one that is available at the Bay (and was on sale a while ago). It's really nice and we were looking at getting it. The problem with the combos is they tend to be a little bulkier however the really light or compact ones usually don't have much adjustability.
