I always use the Calgary server hosted by Platinum Communications.

The fastest I've found is the Seattle, WA one, the calgary one serverly underestimates.

Yea, I was looking at yours and it seems really low by comparison for some reason, did another one just to make sure it wasn't an anomaly....

I believe that based on their 3 plans I just have the "High speed" plan.

I would try again and if it's still slow then do what Bart suggested and see if it's better.

You could get 200000kbps on the benchmark but Telus or someone else could still be faster for a 500mb download, you wouldn't know because your benchmark is inflated by a speed boost that only lasts a few seconds. It doesn't matter if everyone has their own boost, you are just comparing boosts not comparing bandwidth.

Its like comparing how fast your car is in the 1/4 mile but only looking at the first 60 feet. Oh, my car is faster, I beat your 60'. No, your car might be faster or it might not.

Touché for the home services. For the server package we've got at work it doesn't have PowerBoost though.

Pretty sure that all the Business packages (SOHO, Entrepreneur, Business and Server) include Powerboost. Check the website.

Well I can say after having Shaw internet for over 3 years now. I've had both the high speed and Nitro. Nitro is really really fast and I would recommend it if you have more than 2 people constantly downloading or playing online games at home. If you just have 2 or less people or you just want something with a little bit more kick the high speed is half the price and works really good too. I went from Nitro to high speed and thought it would be terrible, but it's almost just as good. Even with the powerboost some of my numbers were higher than people with Nitro. I consistently got over 2.2megs/sec when I used Nitro and was downloading from htp's like Microsoft, Adobe, ATI ect. If they got the upload speed your download speed should be pretty close to maxed out. With or without the powerboost I wouldn't trade to a different provider.
