if you have slow shaw or issues like that its either your router is complete crap or you have poor signal coming into your house.. if you have cable to your TVs go to the lower channels like 2-5 and if they are fuzzy then its signal issues.. could just need a new splitter
plug your shaw modem into your computer directly see if it fixes your internet. i had to replace my linksys router like 3-4 times in one year before. since, i have also put on the dd-wrt firmware on it and its been running a-ok for a long time.
i heard that shaw only calls you for extreme b/w usage if you place in the top10 each month lol, so make sure you are #11 or higher haha
there were months where i used hundreds of gigs per month on extreme and no calls.
i am uploading and downloading stuff using newsnet every second of every day. i consistently move 500gb's down and 200gb's up a month and have never had a call from Shaw.
I'm in an apartment building too, i thought it would be a serious problem but no issues whatsoever. and i can xbox live without lag at all

OK so everyone is saying how fast stuff is (or how slow telus is ) but no facts!
Everyone run this bandwidth speed test and please copy paste the end results n post if your with telus, shaw etc and the type of connection you have, high speed, extreme etc and the numbers from the test and lets see how they compare. These results were very accurate compared to my normal DLs so a reasonable test.
Im on Telus at the moment and am thinking of changing tv phone internet etc to others so im very interested in what they actually perform like.
So Im with Telus, high speed, and i get

Shaw Highspeed.
I'm going to get Shaw Extreme once I move into my new place, I've known it for ages.
At the moment I'm at work with 5 up and 5 down from Shaw, however my father has Shaw at his place and just did a test for me. He's also got the High Speed package, not Extreme.
My preferred test site is Speedtest.net.
My results:
4.86Mb/s down
4.65Mb/s up
11ms ping
His results:
19.47Mb/s down
0.48Mb/s up
10ms ping

Can you run the speed test that i provided? the only reason being that then everyone has the same server and routing etc and the measurements are comparable!
