  • Anyone for installing an audio deck for me?

    Hey guys,

I am looking at buying a Pioneer 5.8" In-Dash Double-Din Car Video Deck (AVH-P3100DVD), it is on sale right now at futureshop and best buy but they want $250 to install it. I will buy it if some on here is willing to install it for me for cheaper. If you know how to do an installation and have done it before then PM and we can negotiate a price for your efforts if you are interested!

Here is a link to the product so you can see it:

    http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...12&catid=20136

Any help is much appreciated so please lend a fellow dubber a hand, the guy at futureshop said it was a tricky job and I have no experience doing this!
Oh and my car is a 2003 VW GTI VR6.

    Thanks

you are in the same situation as me! I picked up at Pioneer Double Din unit with Nav, futureshop wants almost $300 for install because I have the monsoon stereo which he said he needs to re-wire the amp.

It was $150 to re-wire, $120 to put the deck in and like $40 bucks of miscellaneous things....

      Anyone help us out?

I just installed a Pioneer AVIC F700BT in my monsoon equipped car and it did not require any rewiring of the amp. The ignition wire is a little tricky as there was no wire in the head unit harness that turned on and off with the ignition. A special mounting bracket is required as well as radio removal tools.

Radio removal tool = that credit card you really shouldn't have because of your VW addiction.

Again I would be able to help out but right now I have a million things on my plate to get done. Maybe sometime later next month I would be able to help the two of you out.

okay well i might just go ahead and buy it and then il hold on to it while i look around for someone to do it for me.

Does anyone know how hard of a job this would be for someone who has absolutely no experience doing it?

Depends on what deck you currently have in the car. Either way you should but the harnesses and solder them together properly.

I went to a place in the NE and had a look at a Alpine system. They quoted me over $1000, they said they would have to rewire the whole car because of the way the Monsoon system and the speakers are connected....

give Ryan a PM (Tiki on the forums) he does deck installs for a living, he would probably be willing to do it on the side

Just make sure when you do the install that you cut one of the wires in the harness, otherwise your vag-com will give you a grounding error. Check out their website to know which wire to snip.

See, I saw of this deck and the other high end touch screen ones that Pioneer had almost 2 years ago, but I got really turned off with the fact that you have to pay an extra $200 for the bluetooth adapter and $50 for the ipod one. When instead you can just get the non-touchscreen double din deck with all that built in for a cheaper price. Meh, to each his own.

Yea I see that the blue tooth adapter is another $200 which is BS, so i am most likely just going to the non touch screen one that already has bluetooth!

Thats the one I have. I really really like mine. It also comes with the ipod cable, and if you buy a pioneer sat-radio reciever with antenna you can have all that hooked up. I didn't buy the double din kit that pioneer now sells for the deck and I also didn't buy the proper trim piece for it so I used weather stripping and got no trim so mine kind of looks sketchy but the sound is all the matters to me, and it sounds amazing.
