    Re: Tires

you still gonna go 225s or 235s?

tirerack has insane pricing compared to like tiretrends or 1010tires i've found

like its 150US for a 235/35/19 fuzion zri

and its 299CDN for the SAME TIRE from 1010tires..

    F THAT!

i'll have to chat with alex once he gets back from mehico

      Re: Tires

I have had Blizzaks and they were always great in the winter. I have heard Nokians are the way to go though maybe for Calgary?

Best tires I ever had were my Potenza RE010A's.

When I was looking for tires I wanted Toyo Proxies or Goodyear F1's but they were all sold out.

For a good price I don't think you can beat the old BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW which has that funky tread pattern. Usually they are pretty inexpensive?

              Re: Tires

Well I got to take a new GTI for a spin this morning (thanks Derek) and it had the Blizzak LM-60s on it and they seemed very nice, and the owner of the car has been very happy with them.

And for summers I just keep coming back to these Yokohama Advans, so badass looking and supposedly preform great, probably more than I will use but got to look the part! Tirerack is about $2,100US for 8 tires shipped, duty, etc seems hard to beat, especially since the Yokos are not easy to come across here.

                Re: Tires

I ran the the advans on the mk3 Jetta for 2 years. Great tire for wet and cornering BUT **** for tread ware. And I'm possitive I can bring in 8 tires for less then $500ea. What are the other 4 tires your looking at?

                  Re: Tires

The RE-11's are supposed to be great.. (Awesome autocross tire) but terrible wear. I had Conti Sport Contact 3's on my summer wheels, lasted two summers with two track days. I picked them because of a sale on TireRack, and a good overall rating.

The new wheels I have coming are already wrapped in PS2's.. I dont think I would normally be running those tires because of $$ though.

It looks real, some pretty awesome deals on there, I would risk it and order 4, they have some killer prices for some sizes and brands.

                          Re: Tires

That site seems not bad but yes the shipping is high, not sure where things actually come from.

I am wanting a premium set of winters and premium set of summers and the tire rack 2,100 is for 8 tires (Blizzaks and Advans) all in, just USD. I know the tread wear is not the best on that level but compares with RE11s but they only come in 235-35-19s not 225s.

1010ires does not carry the Advan's in my required size but the next size is $450 a tire versus Tireracks $238US, thats a fair difference.

Just trying to get the best tire at the best price, I don't need summers yet but if I am getting winters (car could be here in early to mid february) then why not get both at the same time.

Even only $285 US a tire for 225-35-19 Michelin PS2s at Tirerack.

                              Re: Tires

Wouldnt it be more likely that you will get a better deal on Summers in the spring? (Summer sale?) I know several local places do large group buys when spring rolls around....

From what I heard about the RE-10's, is that if you drive somehwat aggressively you will only get one summer out of them... IMO thats not worth it for that cost.

Quite a few people have been going with the Vredestein's (sp) as well.. I think you only get them on eBay though.

At the end of the day.. unless you plan on tracking or autocrossing it really only comes down to price, treadwear and looks....

Vredestein makes a pretty solid Mountain Bike tire...So does nokian.

Has anyone tried the Maxxis automotive tires?
