The ref handed out 7 yellow cards in the first half of the Germany match - 9 in total (after presumably getting a talking to at half time).

It was an absolute joke as striker Miroslav Klose received two yellow cards within the first 37 minutes - the first one wasn't even free kick worthy nevermind card worthy. The commentators on CBC were disgusted as have a lot of the news articles (ie: Bigsoccer).

The bad calls went both ways as the ref just kept feeling the need to interject himself into the match.....

So far the officiating at this WC has been awful.

I heard about that....it's great!!! I love seeing the big teams fall apart.

Does anyone else absolutley love the fact that Italy has yet to win?

I just heard that the Nigerian team has asked it's government to provide security for the dude who got the Red Card during their game against Greece.

The dude has received a ton of death threats and is being blamed for the loss.

I am happy the Italians have not looked so great thus far, not a fan of their team or style. Although so far it seems there are not a huge amount of strong looking teams.

Portugal showing some form this morning though!

As much as I dont want England to win, I do want them to make it into the final 16 to at least make things interesting. I cant see it being too interesting with teams like USA, Korea and Slovenia going for the title.

the english look good. rooney, stevie g, milner, and fattie, have been creating chances.. terry looks very solid.. defoes goal looks to have calmed the nerves.
