  • Re: World Cup Football (Soccer)

I still think the final will be great and a first time winner for sure too!!

Seemed the Germans just tried to play the game the Spaniards way which was not how they got to this point. The speed and aggressive attack was fairly non-existent yesterday.

Its exactly what Blair said. The Germans were making it to the top by beating everyone to the ball and fighting for it the whole way. The Spanish have been winning by controlling possesion the whole game and making the opposition play "their game". Unfortunately, Germany was found playing Spain's game as well and Spain came out on top. Either way, it was quite a game!

the final should be a good one. Both countries have never won a world cup.
I hope Netherlands win, but I think Spain just has too much skill

Well the final was maybe not as exciting as it could have been and pretty scrappy at times. I do think Spain sold a few of those yellow cards but Webb had his hands full keeping that game under control.

Nice to see a new champion and congrats to Spain, should make it very difficult for me to get some FC Barcelona tickets for when I am there in January 2011.

Bring on the Euro 2012 qualifying!

That should be a lot of fun!

As for the final - Spain continues to be an embarrassment to international football. I was indifferent between the Netherlands and Spain, and just wanted to see a technical and flowing game. Spain decided to turn this into some form of high-diving contest! In my mind, winning that way just isn't winning. Baiting the refs may work in Laliga and SerieA.... but in the World Cup this crap needs to stop.

                    Nothing to be proud of!

Ahh fair enough. In that case, have fun. If you get to see them play against a good team like Madrid or Valencia, it should be one hell of an experience!!!

Oh and that kick to the chest was just brutal!!!

I honestly thought howard webb would let them play. he called every little foul/dive. Terrible officiating. Spain were the better side, but I wish the ref would have kept his cards in his pocket a little more and let them play a little football. Heitinga did not deserve to be sent off.

Blair, I went to a Chelsea game in london last year. You definetly should go, awesome experience

Webb got baited, and owned. 15 cards? Embarassing.

oh and Henry went to New York today. LOL. He sucked at Barca.

Fabregas to Barca? Arsenal should sell. They gotta get started on their club's home grown quota. Zero English starters, is balls.

I think the final was a hard game to ref. But yeah, I wished the ref let the game flow more. I think a south American ref might have been a better pick.

Canadian Turbo, as per Veedubart said...you gota go to a game in London. Last year my bro in law got me tickets to the first game of the season with Arsenal when I was visiting. I saw Chelsea a couple of times too when I lived there. You gota see a game, the atmosphere and experience amazing.

As for Henry going to New York... he should have stayed at Arsenal. He would have mixed well with the young talent that was coming in. His experience would have gone a long way.

LOL England moved up? At the expense of Portugal & Italy. It's a consolation I'll take!
