I would use insurance for that and get Cosmos to take care of it I bet its 10k for them to do it all new parts and paint.

first off, that sucks. shitty thing to happen and bad way to start the day.

i hate to be the guy to do it, but you cant blame the car for causing this. it sounds like the accident is 100% driver error. like they say though, a good handyman always blames his tools. This is not the same as hitting a deer. A deer (or falling rock, etc.) are objects that cannot be avoided and are moving. If the deer is dead it is your 100% responsibility to avoid it.

We all know the conditions have been atrocious. it's one of the reasons both of my cars are currently parked. People need to pay attention and drive in a way that the conditions permit. Yes the city sucks...but we already knew that. Assume the worst.

This is the problem with AWD, traction control, stability control. All the shiite in the world will not make the tires grip the surface any more than the other guy with none of that stuff. Plus, when the electronics hit that traction limit, it all has to let go suddenly. When you are driving a regular 2WD car, you can test the traction at any time and know what the safe driving distance and speed need to be.

          Get some winter tires.

            he has winters

reggie how big are the tires? i hate wide tires in the winter 225s are bad enough for me

            red90

the way i test traction with quattro.. having 400tq helps but all i do is say i'm on country hills blvd doing 60 in 3rd gear.. simply boost the car and if ESP starts flashing then i know at least 1 tire slipped and thats enough for me to drive safe.

I can't imagine trying to drive on 225's in the winter, IMO 205's are the ideal size for winter.

10K???? whatt...that's just a fender man...the door can be easily fixed. A shop should be able to do that for 2 grand tops....where are u getting 10k from?
the mirror and side skirt he should be able to replace it himself

                  Paint. 2 grand minimum.
                  Add BMW oem brand parts.
Paint the bumper, fender, door, mirror, rocker, ACS sideskirt and the paint is cracked on the rear quarter so a blend on there add 3m and installation.......

Collin i don't think he was 10 grand saved up to fix all of that. He can either go thru insurance and expect rates to go up (possibly). OR for now, id replace the fender, replace the mirror & get the door fixed and buff the rest so it's not that visable...i would never ever spend 10k on that lil damage. Maybe 2k is pushing it so i'll say 3-4K there, but still less then 10K.
I've had my car in worse conditions (Tho i don't own a BWM and I know it's more expensive) and it didnt cost me that much because i didnt take it to an actual body shop and i took it to a buddy's garage where he did it all himself for under 1k, and i bought the parts...car looks fine, it's calgary, winter 80% of the time, **** always happens with our cars..that's why it's best to have a winter beater....heck if for every lil thing that happens to my car i'm going to blend and detail eveything i might as well live in my car. or think of another career.

That's my opinion tho, that he can get it done for less then 10k easy and without people even noticing that he hit it. Job is done and he saved himself some money

That's what I do.. It's not uncommon that I ride the car with revs below 2000rpm.. I always stay out of the power band..

Yeah Reg being under 25 they will lean on the driver for being at fault.

I spend majority of my time over the past two days coasting in neutral, only giving the engine enough gas to give me some momentum, then popping it back to neutral and coasting until I need to brake. If I'm curious about how slippery the roads are I just rev the engine once in first while rolling to know how much traction I have. If by 2,500 RPM I'm slipping I take it easy. I'd rather be late then in an accident.
