Wow the dyno, they under rated it, not alot of people doing that nowadays.

Insurance is still a big issue, especially if they are marketing the car for younger drivers (it is after all a neon).

not true VW underdyno'd the 24v VR6.. in real life it outputs 205HP and they rate it at 200 not a huge difference like with that neon.

Whats not true? That insurance costs go up with increased factory HP/Torque ratings? That young people care about insurance more? That not a lot of people under-rate Hp? Those are all true.

not true that VW has never under-rated HP.. yea kris insurance on a riced up 300HP neon would be insane but i guess it depends on your record too.. also don't fret we are at the age where insurance finally starts coming down..

How is that overrated? Assuming 10% drive train loss, which is on the low side, that's about 199 HP at the crank. At 15%, its 210 HP. Not sure what the actual drive train loss is, but its somewhere in between there I think.

                  Or did you mean underrated?

as heavy foot says, 179hp @wheels is alot more than 200 at the crank.. (most people assume 13-15% from what i hear)

The dyno is probably only accurate within 5%... maybe even 10%

So maybe 200 crank equals 170 at the wheels... plus or minus 5% thats between 160 and 180.

                      Just being devil's advocate here.

SRT-4's are here. looked at one at Crowfoot Dodge yesterday. $29000 plus tax.

Cool lookin seats, fmic ,looks kinda mean, for a neon. Fit & finish, inside and out is not so great.

The mopar perferformance goodies for the SRT-4 coming out WILL void the warranty. At least thats what I was told by one of the sales guy's. But if you kept it stock there is a 7 year drivetrain warranty, which is pretty good.

Oh, and there is no wheeln'deeln with these. Purchase price or financing. The next little while dealerships might even want more than MSRP.

You have a limited slip differential?

I don't want to start a pissing match, but how much time/money do guys spend trying to get more power out of their VW's and yet they generally don't even come close to those numbers? And chances are the SRT-4 will out handle any MKIV VW as well.

I mean, I like my car. Its reasonably quick, somehwat agile and has plenty of creature comforts. The SRT-4 is a totally different beast. More performance, less comfort. The Integra Type R didn't come with many comfort options either. Some people complain that VW should stop bloating up the GTI with all of the "luxury" items and make it a real sports car. Its just a matter of what's important to you.

That's the first I've heard about the various performance packages voiding the warranty. And yeah, the dealers will be gouging on the price for a while.

I know what you're saying ,Ryan. Seems like the big thing goin for the SRT-4 is the drivetrain. Decent brakes and grip as well, from what I've read about it. Aside from that, the rest of the car is like any other neon or sx2.0. In other words, a really fast rental car.
