  • winter beater wont start

alright guys today my dad went to move my beater a 1992 honda civic from where it has been seating for quit some times and it wont start the engine is trying to crank but its like there is no spark... im thinking spark plugs but i drove the car 2 months ago after it sitting for 4 months and it turned over just fine so unless sparks go with no signs it wouldn't be them... i drove it for 2 weeks and did put some new gas in it if that matters

any help would be appreciated need to get her going before the end of the month cus i wont have a car otherwise.

    thanks
    Jonathan

cracked distributor cap is very common or the coil, but not likely.

This happened to my 1992 Nissan Sentra Classic Saloon.
I ended up donating her to the Kidney Foundation.

Check (or replace) spark plugs, check oil for foreign materials or colors, check plug wires and distributor cap for cracks, change fuel filter and oil filter, check head gasket for signs of bad things. Check battery has enough juice. Check that intake and filter are clean and that throttle body isn't stuck and is clean. Check for codes if the car is new enough. Check fuses.

I used to run through this list every so often with my Rabbit and it would almost always turn something up. Another thing I would do is make sure there was no water anywhere, if it had been in a storm or if it had been through the carwash, sometimes water would pool somewhere under the hood and do bad things.
