Granted I dislike LCD HDTV's, but that's amusing.

          Superior tech?????

whoa now........ Plasma's kick the **** out of LCD's any day of the week. Read any review out there. The only thing an LCD has on a Plasma is that you can put direct sunlight on it and still see a picture where it's not as good on a plasma, however when my 60" plasma is in direct sun, the picture is just fine.

Alex nailed it, I prefer Plasma. A new set is in my sights, the 46" Panasonic G10.

                Umm Yes and NO...
LCD's VS PLASMA's: Plasmas do have the better picture quality in normal to low room lighting conditions BUT LCD's display last more then plasmas; the phosphoric elements in plasma displays fade over time. LCD's is not prone to screen "burn-in" or "ghosting" , Plasma on the other hand...well static images will begin to "burn-in," or permanently etch the color being displayed into the glass display element. AND Power consumption...plasma's consume more power then LCDs.

                  Re: funny commercial

The average life of a plasma is 25k hours............I'll sell mine before 5k hours so i'm good. I can't even think of a time where there has been a static image on my screen. LCD's are only good for airports or companies that use them to display info and such........ and Ryan.

                    Re: funny commercial

true.. plasmas are still great products.. i got mine new TV for a deal so i'm not complaining either way

and the lifetime is garbage.. i completely agree with you on that one alex

most people will either sell or buy something new before that time ever runs out
25000 hours equates to 1041.6667 days or 2.85 years watching the TV 24 hours a day!!!

not to mention alot of units now have screen savers built in in case you have your NES paused for 15 hours at a time

                      Re: funny commercial

Actually over the past seven or eight generations of Plasma's that burn in issue has been almost completely fixed. Granted that is for the higher end sets, the Panasonic V10 NeoPDP is godlike in ever aspect. [edit] I should mention that the V10 is the 13th generation, and the biggest concern for burn in is for people who use the set for things like digital signage.

Also; the lifespan for most new Plasma's is now about 100,000 hours.

Maybe in a few years …

LG has a 15" coming out soon, and they have up to 30" OLED sets set to hit the market in 2010/2011.
