In regards to installing glass poorly, I got a new windshield early this year. There was visible black glue all along the driver side A pillar, as well as along the seam between the windshield and the headliner. There was also a leak right near the top of the windshield on the drivers side. I remember going through an automated car wash, and having my left leg completely soaked by the end.
They ended up replacing the windshield after re-caulking it twice.
Oh it can go wrong.

You have REALLY bad luck with your car it seems. Every second thread I see you post is either your oil pan getting smashed or something else going wrong lol.
So Glass Masters cleaned up my window. Had to pull it out and re-install it. In the end it looked good. So thanks to the guys over there. Sucks that it wasn't right the first time, but at least they were good about fixing it. I'll still go back.

sweet.. 3 months later and the windshield is f'd again. Saw it yesterday as a chip, and by the time I got to a glass shop it was a big crack. Just a crack though, not a crater like the last one, so it can wait to be fixed.

My 02 Jetta is STILL on the original screen and I drove memorial/deerfoot for 3+ years and Glenmore every day for the last few years. Only 2 chips, fixed in the parking lot guys. It's digned up enough I want a new one, but as soon as I do the damn thing will get cracked!
Tho my new Subaru legacy? Not even daily driven? 18K on the clock? Chip down low and before I could even think about getting it fixed, it cracked all the way from left to right. Lucky it's only about 1 inch from the bottom so no bother at all, but ARGHHHH.
I like the fact your pointing at it....... just incase we didin't see it!! LOL

i've found this year to be especially bad, I don't know if they are throwing down more gravel or what.
I also think they need to start making people aware of proper driving etiquette! Just because I leave a space large enough to pull into (so that I don't get rocks flung into my windshield by the car in front) doesn't give you the right to pull in without signaling before. Also those darn people that don't know how to stay centered in there lanes and ride the gravel covered shoulder.
FYI... A poorly installed windshield is not just about making a mess with the adhesive or leaking water, read the following:
Windshields are a specifically engineered component and can affect the vehicle's structural integrity and passenger safety.
The fact is that the modern automobile and truck, windshield is
part of the vehicle's safety restraint system (SRS) that also includes air bags and seat belts. If any of these safety components are damaged, or are inoperable for any reason, the effectiveness of the entire SRS could be compromised. The SRS is designed to keep vehicle occupants within the relative safety of the passenger compartment during accidents, head-on
collisions and roll-overs.
The windshield also supports the roof thereby preserving the structural integrity of the passenger compartment and keeping it from collapsing and crushing driver and passengers. Seen from this perspective of personal safety, consumers have a vested interest in making sure any damaged windshield they replace is replaced properly and safely. For these reasons every vehicle owner should be aware of the five most important safety functions performed by their windshield.
1. The most obvious windshield function is, of course, visibility. Unlike drivers of old, we do not wear goggles that keep bugs out of our eyes or highway debris from hitting our face. Even so, the modern windshield can become pitted and scratched from minute dirt and sand particles. Pebbles and
stones can fracture the glass causing dings that, if left unattended, can affect vision.
2. The second windshield function is not as obvious. In many cars and trucks, the windshield supports the passenger side airbag during deployment. If a windshield is replaced improperly, the windshield could become detached from the vehicle in an accident. If this happens the passenger side airbag will not deploy properly.
3. Thirdly, windshields cushion the blow if a vehicle occupant is thrown forward in a crash. Windshields are made of two layers of glass sandwiched around a layer of polyvinyl material. The glass may break but the polyvinyl layer is flexible and cushions the impact. This feature explains why windshields are made of glass not plastic. Plastic is rigid and unforgiving to a
person s head and neck.
4.The fourth windshield safety attribute is closely related to the third. When the windshield cushions the occupant s impact, it also keeps the occupants within the relative safety of the passenger compartment. If the windshield becomes separated from the vehicle, the occupants could be ejected through the windshield opening and onto the roadway.
5. Finally, there is the integrity of the passenger compartment. Years ago, most vehicles had steel A-pillars to support the roof.
Today, it is the windshield that provides much of the support that prevents the roof s collapse during vehicle roll-overs.
There are a few common sense tips people can follow to ensure their windshield performs as intended. The ideal scenario calls for
saving the original windshield installed by the factory. The conditions inside the factory for installing a windshield are perfect, so the confidence level in the factory seal between windshield and vehicle is highest. If the original windshield is damaged, there are two choices. Either repair the original windshield, or replace it. The advantage of repair is the factory safety seal is not broken. The windshield is not removed from the car. That saves both the very expensive windshield and the safety seal.
