I've got an idea on what setting I plan to calibrate my camera.

What would be a better lens to shoot cars @ car shows, obviously without much of a backdrop?
What would be a better lens to shoot cars with the B.C. landscape as the backdrop?
      Lens 1: Canon EF 50mm F1.8 II
      Lens 2: Canon EF-S 18-200mm IS f 3.5-5.6

What settings should I calibrate the Canon 50D?
      Aperture Priority?
      Shutter Priority?
      Aperture Setting?
      Shutter Setting?
there is no "default" setting i use. I use the setting that allows me to get the shot i want. if DOF is what i am wanting i will use Aperture, if capturing motion i will use shutter. But sometimes I will use a combination of the two through manual. it all depends.

read "understanding exposure" by bryan peterson and your life will get a lot easier. do it with a camera in your hands.

          I was thinking...

Shooting Velvy with B.C. as her backdrop... I should...
          Use the EF-S 18-200mm IS f 3.5-5.6 Lens.
Set the ISO to its lowest.
Set the Style of Pictures to Landscape.
Set the White Balance to "Shooting Under Direct Sunlight".
Set the Camera to Aperture Priority (Shutter Speed is Automatic)? What Aperture Setting?

Shooting Velvy in a Car Show / Show & Shine (ie. Sylvan Lake Meet)... I should...
Use the EF 50mm F1.8 II Lens.
Set the ISO to its lowest.
Set the Style of Pictures to Portrait.
Set the White Balance to "Shooting Under Direct Sunlight".
Set the Camera to Aperture Priority (Shutter Speed is Automatic) - since everything is pretty much still anyway? What Aperture Setting?

          Also, for both settings...
          I set my bracketing to +/- 2.
I set my timer to 2 seconds to avoid "Camera Shake".

I still need to read up more on Apertures, Shutters, & Exposure.
