I guess I am going to have to go on there without the wife soon. Considering I pass over it pretty much whenever I leave the house. Costco is now 6-7 mins away, I am going to have to put a spending limit on the debit card for the wife now :(

oddly only 100.. and its only 2lanes each wa??? but big shoulders i thought it was going to be 3-4 lanes each way and like 110 or 120 limit.

never understood the massive shoulders calgary builds.

is it done all the way to deerfoot then?

                        never understood wide shoulders?

never driven anywhere else in the world?

wide shoulders mean when there are accidents and breakdowns you dont lose an entire lane of traffic. The US has it right with a shoulder wide enough to park a semi on. Means breakdowns and accidents dont stop the entire flow of traffic

how does that make sense? If they painted in an extra lane, you'd at least have an extra lane on good days. Call it something clever like "HOV/Emergency lane"... never driven anywhere else in the world? Its not that unheard of. Waste of resources. It's not like there is a curb. Pull off the road off you have to. And if you are in an accident that you can't pull away from, you still lose a lane of traffic, but now you only have one lane.

lololol. I agree with stefan on this one. I would prefer an extra lane or two than big shoulders, but thats just me. I've gone down this ring road far too many times before it was even close to be completed. I hope it really does help with the congestion of traffic.

they built it wider so that one day when there is a need to add a lane the real estate is already there..........
