Your never gonna stop drugs/prostitution! If they were to "clean" up ur area they would just move to another one, it would never solve the problem. For as long as drugs are being brought into the city(big quantities) there is always gonna users! The cops cant control and dont know where its coming from!

Then again Victoria Park/Beltline has come a long way over the past four years. Maybe by the time another four roll by your area will have cleaned up?
Yea it sure has come a long way over the past 4 years...its went from a nice place to something much worse! I use to live in beltline for 9 years so i know first hand what im talking about! I would not even step foot into that place nowadays, and before i use to walk home by myself from the playground when i was 13 with no problems!

You know personally I'd say the opposite, especially going back 9 or so years. I mean when I used to see easily double the drug deals and prostitution then as I do now. Without even taking into consideration the fact that I was only about 13 at the time and probably wouldn't have noticed the more subtle deals going down. It started with Victoria Park and spread west. The influx of new apartment buildings and new businesses will also help to further stem and reduce that type of grime.

      Here's hoping at least.

Well of course drugs and prostitution will never disappear, I would just prefer if it seemed the police made a bit more of an effort. I thought they could take a John's car if caught soliciting a prostitutes services, yet having lived where I have for 3 years now I have seen these kind of activities nearly daily and never once seen anyone get pulled, charged, talked to by an officer. Just seems most people involved in these areas both providing and using have no fear at all of being caught and that is not a good thing.

I went to St. Mary's HS in the early 90s so I have been around this area for a long time and I am not sure if it is really any better or worse, just different people involved, I remember some interesting lunch time adventures that is for sure!

Ill start off by saying, dont expect the cops to do much.

On the other hand, they wont pull over anyone close to the 'trouble' area, as it raises heat and makes everyone disperse to other areas without catching all the tricks! Although cops cant be bothered by small time prostitution and drug running, but believe me they got undercover observing the problematic areas!

When i worked at the club we had a guy with a gun show up with 30 of his friends...a call from my co-worker/friend to the private police line went out(5 min wait), 2 calls to 911 from me...another 5 min went by before they showed up. And then they casually left without doing anything.

Ill never rely on the police, easily all 8 of us doorman could of been dead that night! That is why i dont expect much out of em and dont think they will ever solve the problem to the troubles that we are having here in calgary!
