My newest project (nerdy)

I'm gonna build myself a HTPC (home theatre PC) for my bedroom next month. I think i'll use a shuttle PC box based off the new P4 chipsets and toss in a 2.6 800 or a 2.8 800 and a 200gig HD.
There is a new hauppage nexus-s tv tuner card that actually decodes satellite signals (with the proper software plugins so it actually gets all the channels :hot: ) so I will use this PC as a pseuda bell box but along this it will also function as a PVR aka Tivo aswell as a complete MP3 library,etc. Too bad it won't be connected to my bigscreen but in time I might try it.. DVI--DVI equals
anyways should be fun to build and will post pics of it all when its done.

basically paul i'm building a computer that will be a fake satellite box so it can get all the channels and at the same time it will be a Tivo (digital VCR) and DVD player and stereo (mp3s,cds,etc) all in one box that will connect to my big screen or my tv in my room..

more than likely ebay.. right now they dont' really sell them in NA. a buddy i work with already has one and says its the shizzle

I think it would be easier just to start with a Dish Player and use the HTPC for scaling, if needed.

but dale thing of something the size of a g4 cube that can play DVDs, burn DVDs, burn CDs, play CDs/mp3s, record live TV, connect to a satellite then to a TV and act like a sat. receiver and connect to a audio receiver for DTS or DD.. sounds good to me

Sounds like too much time sitting on my behind, I would probably invest in a new mountain bike instead, especially since I would not see the benefits due to the fact that my TV was made in 1972 and I don't even OWN a DVD player!!

Honestly though, it sounds cool Ryan, I wish I had a better grasp of that stuff so I knew what you said!!
