  • Mk5 r32 vs mk5 gti

I was a bit perplexed watching this video because I totally bet my money on the R32 winning but the GTI kept up pretty good. I would of thought the 50hp on the R32 would have an advantage.....

    here the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mz65y8bUkDI

This is drag racing though, i bet the R32 would win around a circuit.

Stick to the facts guys.... or... well... at least the facts as per Road & Track:

          VW GTi:
          0-60mph - 6.3sec
          0-100mph - 16.8sec
          1/4mile - 14.9sec @ 94.0mph
          Slalom Speed - 66.8mph

          VW R32 (2008):
          0-60mph - 6.0sec
          0-100mph - 16.3sec
          1/4mile - 14.6sec @ 95.0mph
          Slalom Speed - 65.9mph

          VW R32 (2004):
          0-60mph - 5.8sec
          0-100mph - 14.4sec
          1/4mile - 14.1sec @ 99.2mph
          Slalom Speed - 66.1mph

As you can see... yes, the GTi is pretty damned good. Not exactly AWD goodness... but goodness nonetheless.
