  • Calgary - the sun capital of Canada?

    Interesting article: http://www.canada.com/calgary/story....C-CE7BFE9E1A26

Calgary has the most sunny days of anywhere in Canada. How come my car is always dirty then?

i heard that on the radio this morning. it doesnt hold much value with me. because here the winters are so mild you see sunshine over xmas, but the summers here are sunny and cold.

in manitoba the summers are bloody hot (+30 all summer) but the winters are cold and clouded over.

if i could combine the summer of manitoba, with the winter of here, i'd have a great city.

You say Calgary is cold in the summer? Wow, I didn't know 35 is cold in July?!? I love Calgary because it is always sunny, overcast days make me depressed and lazy.

Calgary isn't cold. The weather is actually very nice more often than not. It's just being at 1400 metres above sea level, when the sun goes down it gets very cool here at night. Not to mention that the altitude really screws with the seasons. I remember praying for summer to finally arrive.

Ya Calgary is definetly one of the weirdest spots to live. Being so close to the mountains and being so high up, we have some messed up weather patterns going on.

I'd rather have my sun in the summer. If you look at the weather normals on the Environment Canada website, you'll see that a good portion of Calgary's sun occurs during the WINTER!

I'd much rather have a wet, overcast winter and a dry, sunny summer like the west coast than our 2 months of summer in Calgary.

Oh well, my house sure has gone up in value recently...

i like the weather here.. i just hate the freak snowstorms when it really dumps but i do enjoy warm winters thats why i'm hesitant to put full time winters on my car.

I was thinking of picking up some good winters to replace the all seasons on my stock 15"s, but you just don't know how much snow there will be on the roads. Winter tires wear quicker if driven on the pavement, do they not?

For you Winnepegians, notice any difference for power in your cars, when you go back home? Because of the altitude, that is.

I don't mind the winters (although if I had the choice I would take less cold!), I just hate Calgary summers (if you can call them that!). My favourite season in Calgary is definitely the fall...
