It was too bad they were some of my favourites. Oh well, guess I have to wait for another foggy night.

Re: Night Time Cityscape Shots of Calgary

Well done. I have a couple hundred if not a thousand night photos. Serious hobby of mine. I go out at least once a week if not more.

The biggest thing I did was shoot in RAW (.NEF) makes night shots so much easier to get the correct white balance. It is pretty cool when you get some places where you can barely see anything it is so dark. But on a 30second exposure it is bright as day.

I also shoot in full manual.
I also use my Camera's Mirror Lock Up mode. I don't know if the D90 has this ability or not.

Basically when you press the shutter the swings up and locks up, then you press the trigger again and that opens the shutter.

This reduces vibration. Ultimately the best way is to use M-lockup with a shutter release cable/remote reduces vibration in a big way. I also took my UV filter off the lens as it gave me some weirdness every now and again.

Anybody else think this would look good as the forum's opening page for eurodrivers.ca just like on dubberz.com or ottawa-vdubbing.com or something.. Those are awesome shots of downtown. Amazing shots!

im the most impatient person there is but i dunno i find something calming about taking photos, especially the post processing. just sit down through on some tunes and nerd out for a while.

I only shoot in RAW, i dont know why people would shoot in anything else if they plan on doing any post processing work. It's like cutting off one arm and trying to swim.
I got the WB as bang on as I think it can go. For some reason all the light up there is yellow, but downtown its white. Old lights I guess.

I use the mirror lock and i think i can just use the timer delay and set it at like 2 seconds so im not physically touching the camera or tripod when the shutter is released.

              Thanks for the tips though.
