I want to kill my neighbour's dog.......

Here is the deal.

I moved into my place about two years ago. I soon came to realize that I had neighbours that are probably the most ignorant people in the whole world. In two years I have not even got a friendly hello from any of the people who live there. I have tried to be friendly but it is just not worth it.

I once went over there to give them an enmax bill that was put in my mailbox by accident. I rang their doorbell and one of her kids opened the door, took the bill and slammed the door in my face.

Now for my issue: They have a dog that never gets walked and just gets thrown in the backyard to do his business and barks for not apparent reason.

During the summer It is nice to have some of my windows open during the night to get some cool air flowing. This is not really possible because this dog can bark at 5am or 11:30pm of any time in between. I am sure it is because he gets no attention from his owners and never gets walked. I do understand that this is not the dogs fault it, is the owners fault.

Don't get me wrong, I would never actually do anything to harm the dog as I am a dog lover.

My question is:

What can I do to solve this problem? I have spoken to my other neighbours and they feel the same way I do.

I have contacted the city and they said I can file a complaint if I want to.

My problem is I do not want to be at war with my neighbours.

Sorry for the long rant it has been boiling my blood for too long!!!!!!

Well, you can either talk to them and ask them that you and your neighbours have all agreed that their dog's barking is disrupting the neighbourhood.

If they are not the type that you can talk to without them taking it the wrong way, you can anonymously call the city and complain about the dog barking, then I think they will send your neighbours a warning, the next time is a fine. *I THINK*

i had such neighbours once. I was going to file a complaint, because there are fines for this. I'm a dog person though, so figured I'd let them try and fix things thing on their own. I wasn't much up for chatting, as they were also a little on the ignorant side, so I just printed out the by-law with the applicable fine highlighted, and left it on their door one evening. I was really surprised that this worked! I really didn't think it would.

However, I don't think this would work in most cases.... call the bylaw guys. Once a case is started, they won't get too many chances. The animal control guys should be respectful enough to keep things anonymous.

If the bylaw route doesn't work you can take it up with the Police. You can find out who the community liaison is for your area and having a meeting with all your neighbors. The final thing you and all your neighbors can due is sue them for loose of enjoyment of your own property, I almost had to do that with a party house 2 doors down from me. They sold the house and moved 3 weeks after the police contacted them.

here's one.. i live in a culdesac and houses near the corners have zip for street parking and people find its fun to park in front of our house because we have the biggest yard on the block

other than me pulling up my freaking baron and parking it there all the time how do you tell people to fark off and park in your own driveway..
i know its not illegal but i pisses me off to no end when people park in front of my house

last fall some lady did for a freaking week! and must have went on vacation! i was ready to go out and let all the air out of her tires and when i got home from work she was gone..

Same garbage happens to me. One side of the street has a attached garages, right across the street are just houses with no garage. All of the fucking morons with garages park on the street and **** when they got there own fucking parking in the garage(2 spots) and outside the garage(2 spots). Its such a piss off...cant wait to move out of this neighborhood.

As for OP, id choose one of the 2. Either you talk to them in person and not call bylaw or call bylaw and let them deal with it.

Even if ur neighbor 3 doors down called about the dog, the neighbor with the dog is going to assume it was you. So best to talk to em and see if you could resolve it that way. Maybe even think about gathering some of the neighbours together and going to their door all at once.

Wow I didn't know people got mad for parking in the public street in front of their house. I can understand a week+ or if it actually blocks the driveway... but why do you care? You just said you have a garage and a driveway...

If you don't care about neighbour relations, call the city and have them come mark the tire. If they are parked there without moving for 48hrs, they can get a ticket for 'storing' their vehicle on public property. They can ticket immediately if it's parked too far from the curb, or the wrong direction. My neighbour across the street usually ends up parked with 1 wheel on the sidewalk, or she parks the wrong way. No kidding, I think she is the worst driver in Calgary. I once watched her try to parallel park in front of her house in a spot big enough for 2 of her cars. After 5 minutes she got out and went in her house with her rear tire on the sidewalk and her car at a 45 degree angle to the curb.

I like stefan's approach. you could also write a short anonymous letter and leave it on their doorstep or in their mailbox.

You should just zip tie their driveshaft. My friend was in the same situation a while back and the person that kept parking outside his house drove a Subaru WRX, she wouldn't stop so he put zip ties the entire length of the driveshaft. Eventually she went in to get a diagnosis done on it yet they didn't find anything, lol. She did end up paying a $100 diagnosis fee I think and i believe they told her about the zip ties, haha.
