  • Camera Help

Well my wife is asking me for a new digital camera, so I am looking for some suggestions on what to get. We are not looking for a DSLR, but a point and shoot that is small, good MP (we do blow up photos we take) and my wife wants a quality zoom, that is her biggest complaint on the current camera. We have used a Canon Powershot S80 for the last 3 years and it has been around the world issue free but perhaps time to pick up something new with a few trips coming up.

Any input would be appreciated and price is not a huge issue.

Got a Nikon L18 for the wife last year and its pretty damn good, although I noticed there's a recall out for it now, not sure what kind of zoom your wifes looking for but those small slr's with the fixed focal lenses are better then a shirt pocket type camera.

Panasonic LX-3. The reviews and pictures I have seen from this look excellent. Canon is always a good choice to with the elph series being so compact.

A little on the pricey side, but I love my Canon G10, it's not the smallest or lightest point and shoot, but it is 14.7 mp with a massive zoom and takes really good pics. (even in RAW format which is uncompressed)

Some of the new fujis rival DSLRs for high ISO picture quality (indoor, no flash etc) which I think is pretty important. Whereas Olympus has the weather proof models if you're camping/snowboarding etc. Depends on what you want it for really.

I am currently liking the look of the Olympus Stylus (u) 9000, 12mp, 28-280mm zoom 2.7 inch LCD, not a bad size and $400.

I use an Olympus Stylus 1050SW as a sidekick.
                waterproof (a little)
shockproof (can drop from a few feet)
                freeze proof (-10 celcius ?)

it uses xD picture card (?) though, but comes with trans-flash adapter.

                no problems with it yet.
                put.......put.......
