So i went to try to fight the ticket today, turns out had i have just said i didnt have insurance, i would have got a pink ticket, which i could have taken my proof of insurance down to the station and they would have ripped it up.
But they gave me a yellow ticket for failing to produce proper documentaion, so im screwed, $174 goes to the hungry hungry hippos
Go to court, plead your case, and they'll reduce the fine down to around $55. They can't eliminate it at that point but it will be reduced, make sure you get there BEFORE they open though, or else you'll be waiting to talk to a Justice of the Peace for a damn long time.

Well you have to go to the courthouse downtown, I think they moved since I last went there though. Actually I know they have, to the new building on … 7th Avenue and 5th Street SW I believe. Either way do a search on the Calgary website and it'll be there. I won't lie, at the moment I'm too damn lazy.
[QUOTE=Eurotuner.;166622]Well the cop tells me to give him my registration and my licence. Well, i just bought the car, i never got the registration signed over from mike but i got a very elaborate bill of sale, which at this point in time my dad had because he was working on getting insurance set up.
So i hand him my licence and basically tell him i have no way to prove that this is my car.
So your saying that you were driving a car on public streets with no proof that you own said car and have no insurance on said car....and somehow its the cops fault for being a dick...seems like you need to give your head a shake. Because last time i checked in the province of Alberta you need a little more than an elborate bill of sale to drive a car on public roads.
No doubt, imagine running plates all the time looking for stolen cars... bastards.
The no-insurance ticket is 2200 or so, and there is no grace period from the time of purchase, as soon as 1 wheel touches the street you better have a pink card or a photocopy of one. Registration is 7 days I believe (might be 14), if you have a bill of sale with the right vin written down.
Then as you guys found out there's the failure to produce which if you get it there's no real leniency. It's for people that leave their **** at home. Kinda pricy IMO, so hope you get it reduced at least.
If you didn't provide him a pink card he could have impounded it on the spot until you produced one, so you did kinda get off lucky.
