The more I think about it...

You should buy a super cheap, used mini-van. Because (like others have said) it is going to get destroyed by kids.

Then save up a little money and get a second fun-car for the occasional time when you want to get away. Maybe a little roadster for the summer. Used Boxster or Miata or S2000

That is the route that I am leaning towards. Get a Sienna or something like that so that the wife doesnt complain too much about it and use it for the child transporter, lumber hauler, dump runner. It has to be okay so I dont mind driving it, and then get a nicer car for the other vehilce. There are still gonna be times where the kids will have to be in the other vehicle to it does have to have the room.
