Ice scraper scratched the hell out of my rear window. Any ideas?

I had this happen on my VW front window, after a few months the scratches seemed to fade and you can no longer see them.

Yep, scratched the hell out of my mk4 gti's windshield with an ice scraper, but the scratches never faded.

are you sure it was the scraper and not the rear blade?
road salt and sand are good glass cutters.
put a light tint in the rear and you wont see it unless it's really bad..

Yep, scratched the hell out of my mk4 gti's windshield with an ice scraper, but the scratches never faded.

was yours a factory original or a replacement.
because the ell cheapo windshields are garbage, price is nice but they don't last.

Good question. I need to take a proper look at the side windows and compare. And I already have rear tint. It's not as visible from the outside as it is from the inside.

I scratched the hell out of my rear on my MK4 golf the first winter I had it - they've never gone away either. Only way to fix is to replace. Also - the rear blade will scratch it too if there is lots of dirt on it... POS!

Actually it was the original glass, but to its credit lasted nearly eight years without a crack(plenty of pitts and scratches though). The windshield on my new mazda lasted about three months before its first crack, and is now working on its third...
