If I was interested in purchasing some higher end wheels, would you guys recommend I buy now? or should I wait a little longer and hope for the dollar to go up?

If I buy now, I end up paying a significant amount extra due to the currency exchange....but I'm worried it will get worse before the summer.

first i'd be evaluating whether or not you really want to be spending large amounts of money on "toys" right now.
second....dollar will hopefully go back up with the rise in oil prices that should happen in the new year.

Their "posted loss" is actually in relation to the projected numbers as opposed to last years numbers........

        ie:
        2008 toyota has sold $1,000,000
        2009 toyota projected sales $800,000
        projected loss = $200,000
        Cost of business 2009 $600,000
^^^^Fictitious numbers, but gives you an idea of what i"m saying.........

Thanks for the info. I think I might hold out a little longer. The truth is, im still spending like I always have. My parts collection keeps growing and my fiance's designer purse collection keeps getting bigger.

do you have any real numbers to back this up? cause the numbers and stats i have been seeing dont support that argument.

as is most of canada. a lot of people think because they aren't feeling it yet we are somehow exempt from the pain the rest of the world is feeling, when in reality we are really just a bit of lag time behind. our time has yet to come, back east is already beginning to feel it.

Hard to feel that bad for a company that has only had one loss in the last 70 years (Toyota).

However since we have not gotten to the end of the year hard to see what the numbers will be and what Financial adjustments may or may not be included in there.

                  Re: Canadian Economy.....your thoughts

Yea, I don't feel bad for Toyota, and honestly they probably aren't doing as bad as some of the American companies, but I think the foreign car makers will still feel it and a lot of them have factories in the US and Canada.

And if Popp is right, well, that's kind of sad, misleading the public into thinking it's in the same predicament in the hopes of not turning away buyers? That sounds like a bad idea.

So, what is the likelihood that the Canadian dollar gets on par with the US dollar this year?

Is oil likely to hit $100 (plus) a barrel this summer because demand will increase?

If we are lucky the dollar will come nowhere near parity as that would send manufacturing reeling again, also while commodity prices are in the pooper the poor dollar gives us a significant boost in revenue due to exchange (commodity prices are all USD).

As for oil at $100 I would say that it is remote unless the various stimulus packages REALLY work. The ouiji board readers in the futures trading I have talked to have futures in H2 at $70 USD. If that is the case then we're in good shape here. Hell we're still in good shape at $50.

Not so much right now though.
