  • Montgomery Autoparts SUCK!

Yeah, I'm mad. My ECU came in today and they called me to arrange for me to pick up the part. The woman I've been talking to to order the part was nice, but the son of ***** parts dude (or whatever the hell he does there) was the most condescending piece of crap I've have ever spoken with. No soft skillz whatsoever. If there is one thing I have a low tolerance for, it is poor customer service. I have an even lower tolerance for customer service that try and make you sound stupid and I have the least amount of tolerance for "customer service" that outright say "You don't know what you are doing". That pisses me off. Soft skills, damn it. I can handle it if they try and point me in the right direction, but insults put me over the edge.

Man, was I fuming. I told them to keep their piece of crap. They charged me a %20 restocking fee to send back to MD. That pissed me off, but I feel better knowing that C1 may become and APR dealer and hopefully they will have DPP.

what was wrong with the ECU you got? oh you want horrible customer service take shaw here.. they are the absolute worst.. takes them 3 weeks to do anything i hate them.. free satelite 0wnz them.. all your cable box are belong to us

yea neil i'm doing APR w/ dpp or revo's sps right away. H2sport in ontario is so far the most reliable canadian dealer. I bet we could even work a deal out if we both order the same setup from them at the same time.. just a thought.. they usually have deals and you can get the ECU upgrade, SPS2 or 3 module, and a forge DV..

Nothing was wrong with it (I think). I was just trying to explain to Jackass that to change my ECU with another used ECU I would need the 7 digit SKC (secret key code), the date the SKC was generated by the dealer, the dealer's WSC (workshop code) and the Importer number.

No matter though. To swap the ECU's I need access to a Vagcom every time I switch. That is too much of a pain the arse so I think I'm gonna go with either APR or Revo. APR is looking the most appealing right now.

Its all propaganda man. Straight up.

Everyone posts that their favorite is best, smoothest, fastest. One loudmouthed guy does more than 20 satisfied or unsatisfied customers. Your source is the VW Vortex.

Why would you care Pat? You live in Montana, you have APR dealers close enough to you already.

The closest major metro center to missoula montana, is Calgary alberta there mapquest. Seattle is about equivalent distance/ driving time I would rather come to Calgary and do it while seeing meeting with some friends etc.

Once the ECU is coded to your immobilizer, you shouldn't need
the Vagcom at all. It should just be plug and go. Once it's coded, it's coded.

                      Or am I missing something?

That's not what I read on the Ross Tech ecu swap webpage.

                        Edit:

Sorry, it was actually from the APR site. Here is a quote:
''It should be pointed out that each time a new ECU is 'adapted' for operation in a particular vehicle using the factory procedures, the car creates a new internal code that is compared to a code stored on the ECU. Hence, if you adapt a new ECU to work in a vehicle (using the factory procedure) you must readapt the old ECU if you wish to put it back in the car. Using APR's Immobilizer Clone utility, you can create a virtual clone of an ECU's immobilizer. This way, if you ever need to change between the original and the new ECU you simply swap the ECU into the car - no immobilizer re-adaptation is required.''

                        The page it came from:
                        http://www.goapr.com/VW/support/immobilizer.html

                          http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/Immo3-ecu-swapping.html

The page details swapping in a new ECU (not coded to any car) or a used ECU (coded to a different car). Once the ECU is coded to your car, it'll be coded to your car until someone else installs and recodes it.

On a side note: by messing with the VagCom and doing a bit of ECU swapping, it's possible to code your ECU and then your cluster to someone else's IMMO numbers. You could, in theory, get a groups of guys togeather and code all the cars the same and then be able to swap ECUs between any and all cars.

The dealer would have issues because the serial number in ECU and cluster would be different than the SN of the car, but it is possible.

The ECU and cluster for the TDI in my Rabbit are coded to match the TDI Golf that my parents drive.

                          EDIT:
I guess I'm talking IMMO3 here, and from my limited personal experience. Reserving my right to be wrong. I'm sure APR knows their stuff.

I switch my ECU's all the time with no VAG-COM. Just plug and play.

Really? Then what's APR going on about? My ecu is gone now, but I'm still curious.
