  • VRT + Tires = NOM NOM NOM

so i'm driving home late last night, air was cold, so i decided to do a quick 2nd gear pull. All of a sudden I hear a knocking sound. Slow down, pull over into a mall parking lot, check under the lights to see what the noise is. Can't see anything.
Baby the car part way home....no noise. give it a bit of a shakedown again just to see what may have been causing it. No noise.

All of a sudden hear a horrible knocking sound again this time right under my feet. Wonder what the **** is going on,...cant see ****.

Jack up the car today....and fine this:

needless to say i now need new tires. I knew these ones were on their last legs, but had hoped i could coax them to last the weekend until the car goes away on Sunday for Tuesday's snowfall.

Have the stock wheels with the Toyo T1-S's on there. **** are they fun to drive haha. Car looks pretty much stock now...and being dirty its nice and sleeper like.

    Hows your alignment?

The tire appears to be wearing unevenly. Good thing it didnt completely blow.

car is quite lowered... therefore negative camber would cause this, correct me if I'm wrong but there is not any really good way to correct the negative camber caused by lowering on VW's

alignment has been checked. when we set it up before we put some camber into it for cornering. 2nd gear pulls at 18psi during boost tuning doesn't help matters

How much camber did you put in? That looks like -5 to -6 degrees or more? I haven't seen that much uneven wear even in aggressively set up Porsches (which just eat through the rears on the inside)! I'd get that checked and maybe set that camber a little lower for mostly street driving. Just my opinion.

You got lucky it didn't deflate at speed.

I wouldn't its anymore than -5 degrees of camber because I have -3.5 degrees of camber out back on my BMW and its got quite the angle to it, lol. unfortunately I don't have any pics of wear patterns for comparisons since my car has been off the road more than on. I just have my avatar pic to show.
