    anyone ever tackle this?

i just installed one at my front door where before there were 2 switches 1 for outside lights 1 for front entry lights

there is also another switch down the hall for the entry light

i was able to wire up the new timer switch fine and i have power and my entry way light i can turn on/off normally

but now my outside lights are always on.. what did i do wrong?

    Re: wiring outside lights timer

You screwed up the wiring :P Reread the instructions and make sure you wired the timer to the right positions.

      i did!

right now i have it like this

main power comes to hallway switch

jumper over to power in on timer switch and tie with screwy dealy cap

white wire from timer goes to common white tie for all light circuit in the wall hole)

green wire from timer switch goes to ground on wall plate box

blue wire from timer goes to positive (black wire) tie for all 3 outdoor lights

      main hallway switch works normal

      outside lights always on.

all you should have to do is reverse the blue and the black wires coming off the timer. You have spliced the outside light switched feed with the constant power bypassing the timer all together. Let me know if this does not solve your problem.

hrmm that gave me the same result.. outside lights always on can't switch them on/off and the main hall switch still works

i even went as far as putting the blue and black off the timer and the power jumper off the first switch all together with the 3 outside lights positive cables and same deal

is my timer defective lol or am sure i'm still messing something up

went and swapped switches at the depot tonight

              got the frigging thing working

took about 1 hour of running up and downstairs turning the breaker on/off and troubleshooting all the stupid black wires
              but i finally got it

light goes on light goes off..

So it was the timer then?
