  • Full Body Vinyl

    A growing trend!

Yes, this is vinyl not paint. Full body solid color vinyl.

The cost for a full wrap including the roof with full solid color (eg. Matte Black) would run $2700US which includes materials and installation.

      Q. What kind of material is it?

      A. They use 5 year removable vinyl with UV. Turnaround is typically 10 days from receipt or sign off of print ready artwork.

      Q. How long should I expect the wrap to last?

      A. You can expect to get 2-3 years and longer out of the wrap provided proper care is given. Wraps will have lifting in tight areas and where there aren't large surface areas for the material to adhere to. This is completely normal wear and it will happen with any material used.

      Q. What is the proper care for my wrap?

      A. Hand washing with soft non-abrasive sponge is the best method. Avoid high pressure washes because that spray can actually tear the vinyl or cause seams to lift. Also, be careful to never use an ice scraper.

      Q. Will it hurt the paint?

      A. No. Actually, it protects your paint while it's on. You see, ultra violet light in sunshine works to fade your paint over time. But with a wrap on your vehicle, the wrap is taking the UV light hit, not your paint.

Remember, the wrap is a plastic film that is adhered to the top of your paint. So if anything is going to hit your paint, it's going to have to go through the wrap first. This includes highway sand, dust, insects etc. If you are really interested in preserving your paint while you own or lease your vehicle, it might make good sense to protect the paint with a wrap.

      Q. But really, it won't hurt my paint?

      A. The vinyl is low tac, meaning it's really not that sticky. It's not like duct tape or glue. It stays on though, because there's a lot of surface area making contact with the vehicle. When you want it to come off, you just peel it back. An aged wrap may get brittle, and may come off in strips, rather than a single sheet. When we remove wraps, we get a little residue left behind that cleans up easily with a little isopropyl alcohol. Wax it, buff it, and you're good to go with paint as good as when the vinyl went on.

      Q. Will the wrap protect the paint from big rocks and vandalism, like 'keying'?

No. It's a very thin film. It can protect your paint from the sun and the elements, but not from physical damage. Anything that will dent or scratch your paint will also dent and scratch the vinyl.

I have actually thought about this for the Smart since the panels are removable and would be easier to wrap, or for my next car since it would just be fun!

                        Re: Full Body Vinyl

I have heard that the only problem with this process is the same problem that you have with 3m.

If the installer is not an experienced trained professional, then he or she may damage the car.

A common problem is that when they cut the pieces, they use a razor blade. If the blade ever touches your paint, bad news. Skilled professionals lift the edges as they cut of course.

That would be fun, if you had money lol. More convinient than a paint job.

Lol i showed my friend this, not a car guy really... and he asked how much it costs and i told him $2700. Hes like wtf why wouldnt you just get a paint job? im like how much do you think a paint job costs? hes like "like $1000".

I just looked at him and laughed
