Society is falling apart.
It is correct that the middle/upper class is to blame for a lot of the issues. Articles abound in the papers about the coke habits of executives funding the drug trade and the gangs. Supply and demand really.
I just think that the police need to have better power... you see that they make huge busts and arrest major gang members but then read in the paper the next day that they were all released.. some with serious crimal records.
Working downtown for the past decade has made me a bitter jaded man.. I get tired of seeing the same hobos on the same corners begging for money day after day... I understand that mental illness is rife in many of these people but there must be a way to clean up the core. Bronco has his plan to end homelessness but I just don't see it working.. too many of these people are too far gone for help.
Everymorning I see people sitting outside the cecil hitting the crackpipe.. in plain site.. with no fear of getting into trouble. My wife rides her bike downtown from Douglasdale and on the paths she encounters the dregs of society.. sleeping in the bushes.. stumbling stoned in her way.
We are hard working, law abiding, tax paying citizens.. why should we have to live in "fear" of these people?
