    Re: Favorite stretch of road

Another route I enjoy is the Three Sisters Parkway. It's the road the runs between Canmore and Stewart Creek Golf club.

Yea, what were you thinking, I could have been hurt!

I've also driven that road through exshaw (1a you say?) years ago, I was told by a long time Canmore resident that there are a lot of drunk people on there after dark though, so I usually stayed away unless it was the early afternoon.

Old banff coach road has only been fun once or twice 'cause I usually end up with some slow arse in front of me going UNDER the speed limit by a healthy margain.

Just did that this morning, and it's one of my faves as well. That climb is so fun, and then the descent as well.

#1 is Highway 95 between Radium & Golden. So fun, and usually dead.

yeah, radium to golden is a good
east of golden first 10km or so - very fun in the middle of night to avoid traffic, or else it's too busy.
highwood pass/ highway 40 (well patrolled though) watch out for cows and goats on the road

              barlow and 16th butterfly
16th and university butterfly - yields there

crowchild north to memorial west to kensington to crowchild south to 12th ave (?), then u-turn back onto crowchild north

              ........there's lots in town

Highway 540. It's south of Calgary between the 2 and the 22, just a little before Nanton. It starts off pretty rough... you're dodging potholes for the first bit but that only keeps it interesting. After you pass a few farms, the pavement is perfect, there's rarely any traffic, the scenery is great and I've never seen any law enforcement. There's a sweet spot in there with a long straight where you can really get your speed up. By far my favorite stretch of road.

hands down by a mile is the old sea to sky highway BEFORE the olympic rebuild started.

It was 1 hour of the some of the best and most scenic driving in north america.
They have since ruined it with 4 lane stretches of highway and removing a lot of the twisty stuff, but still an incredible drive.

Best time is a tuesday morning around 8am...no traffic, no cops.
