    Re: Another election......are you serious?

Anyone else watching the debate right now?

Up until this point, Im quite impressed with how Elizabeth May has performed in the debate. She is well spoken, has brought up good counter points, and has been aggresive when needed.

Im also really surprised with Harpers lack of ideas and platform. He's been attacked on multiple issues and has no real answer or solution.

My Mom is helping out in the election voting process and what I found really funny is there is actually a section on the ballot that is for "Marxist-Leninist Party" Really.... who votes for these people??

I'm happy to see more people exercising their democratic right to vote. Good for you.

If you think the Marxist Leninist Party is a joke, take a look at the following link and see some of the other Officially registered parties.....its good

Conservative tends to be the forerunner here in Alberta but if you don't agree with them then vote. I think their strong hold is going to weaken as younger people have different views then the established generations here and with the continued influx of people from the east things could end up being different.

I no longer have cable so I was not able to view any of the debates but I will try to check things online. One thing that surprises me is the lack of social issues being discussed this election, seems to be all economy and environment, which sometimes makes me nervous as I worry what some Conservative ideas that are sitting in the closet that they may bust out if they take a majority.

                  Re: Another election......are you serious?

Watching the debate sort of half heartedly, I found a few things interesting. Compared to the French debate, I was much more impressed with Elizabeth May, however, that being said, people have slammed Harper in the past for his poor french, however May's french was poor enough that I felt she lacked an understanding of what was going on at points. She even had to go so far as to ask for a word to be translated by the moderator.

It should have been something that was considered in the decision to include her. I support the Green Party, however I do not feel she added anything to the debate, many of her points were latched on attacks, while she did represent the party well, I would rather have heard more from the other leaders than dilute the time we have already. I also often feel the same way about the Bloc.

I was not so impressed with Harper, however I understand the position he was in, and the lack of details stemmed from the fact that he was very much put on the defensive from the get go, May, Dion, Duceppe are all fighting mostly against him, and there is little he could have said which would not have come under fire by them.

I also generally like Layton and Duceppe in the debates, however like Duceppe did say, there is only one person there likely to be prime minister, whether the rest of them are willing to admit it or not. Well said by the Bloc.

I'm generally a conservative, however in this case my support for them is at a low, that being said I still prefer them to the alternatives, and at the time we are at, I feel that having a majority government is the best solution, almost regardless of who it is. That being said, I would not want to see the NDP in power.

                    Re: Another election......are you serious?

i agree that the NDP should go shove themselves based solely on the fact they publicly make a mockery of the American president and resort to American style commercials that just pisses me off. Even if George Bush has done a bad job, i don't want a prime minister who looks down upon the President. Were just asking for trouble. As for Harper i don't blame him for being fairly passive. Not to mention they didn't give him a chance to say anything he kept getting cut off, and when he did get a chance they gave him like 40 seconds to reply to everything. Harper's job so far proves to me he can be a good leader, and lack of honest leadership in the past only pulls me closer to Harper. My two cents lol

I literally LOL'd when he said that. It was by far the funniest moment of the debate.

I don't understand why Conservatives always say this about the NDP. The NDP will never win power (or at least during our lifetime), so let it go already. Its like me saying, I would not want to see the communist party in power.....like thats ever going to happen As a Conservative, you should probably be more concerned about the Liberals.

As for May's performance during the french debate, who cares. Yeah it hurt her ability to reach the french voters, but it shouldn't be held against her for those of us who speak english. I could really care less if our prime minister can speak both official languages perfectly. She was very impressive and her ideas were not that wacky as everyone thinks. She stood out the most in my eyes and really made me take the green party more seriously. Everyone else at the debate stayed relatively idol.

I really hope we don't end up with a Conservative majority. Harpers stance on the war, environment, and health care scare me.

Very interesting to see Mr. Harper wait till the day after the advance polls are closed before unveiling the full Conservative platform, personally I think it is a very bad move and glad to see their support slipping.
