The liberals are ahead in the polls at the moment, but they have no money for a campaign and while I'm not a conserv fan they DID drop the gst (which libs will restore back to 7% if not 8)
Harper thinks he can make some gains now so thats why he wants the election, and he might get some but I would say we are still going to result in a minority after this election. This might result in Dion getting the boot as he is not the best leader for the liberals, not that Harper is superman either.
At least we don't have 2 years of campaigning like the Americans, I like this quick elections.

I think the US electoral process is great to help make people who do not follow politics learn about the candidates. Just due to the fact that they are in the news for a year+ before the actual election.
Unfortunately Harper and the church nuts are, in this case, the lesser of two evils. (figure of speech, I'm pretty sure they aren't evil) As I think Dion is a wing nut and the liberals are a bit out of touch as always. I would like to see the Green Party make some real headway. That won't happen though...
Harper wants to take advantage of the fact that the liberal party is pretty disorganized and not ready for an election right now. Im interested to see what points this campaign actually brings up.
And I too would love to see the green party make some headway!
Harper at least kept some of his promises.
Don't care for the liberals.
Green Party won't have a clue to run the country but it would be fun to see.
I would vote green just because how much worse can it really get.
Well October 14th is the official date, and I already spotted some signs up this morning on my way to work.
I am personally not a fan of Harper or Dion, and I know we are traditionally conservative in Alberta but I am really unsure who to vote for. I think the campaign is going to be filled with so much mud-slinging it is going to be hard to really see what the platforms actually are.
My prediction Conservatives win another minority with a small gain, but then Dion will be replaced as Liberal leader and we will be back at the polls within 18 months

The reason I'm not fond of the idea of another election is due to the fact that I always take advantage of my democratic right (and responsibility) to vote and I'm tired of the childish BS between the PC and Liberals that caused this election.
Ryan is right about not being able to complain if you don't vote.
