  • Iphone Rant

So this ultimate phone is supposed to be the best thing ever, after using it for a bit, I'm suprised the things that it can't do. Maybe there is some insight as to ways that people have made the phone do these things. I want to just use it without hacking it.

Bluetooth, only good for hands-free, you cannot send pictures or sync your contacts via bluetooth, still using old fashoned wires. No bluetooth audio eaither for bluetooth headsets.

It's lacking Voice dialing as well. It's a good feature for use in cars with hands free as well.

No picture or video messaging, only text. The camera doesen't have a video option or a light/flash.

It will Sync the Outlook Contacts and the callander, but not the tasks or notes.

There are a few more things, but nothing that I use regularly.

Still waiting on the ideal Phone....

    Re: Iphone Rant

    - No copy paste
    - No Flash support (best mobile browsing phone my ass)
    - Can't use it with gloves so it's a lame phone to use in the winter
    - Can't use it one handed
    - QWERTY on-screen keyboard keys are too small, makes the touch screen inefficient for typing
    - No haptic feedback
    - Not a good phone for voice/messaging/email or for business
    - Bad reception/RF
    - No camera flash
    - Limited Bluetooth

You think the BB Bold is a good alternative? Telus doesn't have much, the Curve, that's about it.

The Bold isn't as good as the iPhone for media (pretty much since the iPhone is just an iPod Touch with a phone app) but it has a superior screen despite its smaller size due to pixel density, better wireless performance and call quality, a superior keyboard (physical >>> touchscreen), and is better for communicating in general by voice/IM/email/SMS/MMS.

The Curve is dated compared to the Bold but it feels better in the hand, has a better size, and has a better keyboard IMO. Many people on www.crackberry.com still prefer the Curve over the Bold or prefer the Curve's successor (Javelin) over the Bold just due to feel/size and the keyboard. With Telus you can get really good data plans if you talk to Loyalty and Retention. I personally pay $52/mo for voice + unlimited data/im/email/sms for my Curve which is better than any plan you can get with Robbers.

            Re: Iphone Rant

I got my Bold today and it is a pretty big improvement over my 8800. The screen is a lot nicer (although rapid motion video is fairly jittery) and the keyboard is a step up.

My biggest beefs so far are that they have recessed the trakball too far in to the body for my liking, the message indicator light is covered by the holster retention strap, and you can't get smaller than a 7 point font (being able to easily read a 7 point font from a distance says a lot about screen clarity).

Oh and some of the Google software hasn't been updated to recognize the version number yet so it won't run.

I wish I could have a Bold but I enjoy my plan from Telus and I enjoy the feel/keyboard of my Curve.

...but the bolds are still going for like 1k on ebay. Thats out of f**king hand.

I have an Itouch and thought about the Iphone. If I have the 6G dataplan I would be surfing continually. Not sure if that is a good think. Gotta be other there with people, exercising, doing business etc.

I would think that the larger company would make a more reliable product. Having their reputation on the line and the money to invest in R and D.
