  • Your thoughts on running other manufacturer wheels

    Bored at work....

What are your thoughts on running manufacturer wheels on a vehicle it does not belong to?

For example, many VW enthusiasts like using Audi wheels. VW's have also been known to run BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, Bentley and Corvette wheels (to name a few).

What about manufacturer specific tuner wheels such Champion Motorsports, Tech Art, and AMG's on cars that are not Porsche or Mercedes?

I have Audi TT ALMS wheels on my jetta and i think the best part about them is the confused looks on people faces when they look at them and look at the car

This months eurotuner is having an all female issue featuring a BT GLI on 19" BMW M3 wheels. They are keeping tight lipped on how they managed to make the wheels fit. Looks very hot.

The car belongs to SAVwKO's girlfriend on vwvortex.

I'm a fan, as long as you keep it euro, the Corvette wheels is going to far.

It doesn't matter what brand they are if they look good. Vette wheels look fucking sick on certain applications.

I think that a lot of rims look amazing from other manufacturer's on a lot of Volkswagens.
The only thing that I dislike are people who still use the same centre cap. The blank ones look good or who are able to throw some Vw centre caps in.

Re: Your thoughts on running other manufacturer wheels

I personally love the look of running other OEM wheels, I have always wanted a MK5 GTI on Flying Spur wheels and we have even considered putting some Lambo wheels on the R8 to mix it up. I think it just gives a whole other option for style over aftermarket wheels.

I personally wouldn't do it unless it was a cost issue. There is always better than OEM wheels in the aftermarket. That being said if they look good on the car thats all that matters and the examples above are hot.

Re: Your thoughts on running other manufacturer wheels

Adapters are annoying which is why I will probably never run wheels that don't bolt up to a car again. I was really tempted by Mitch's Porsche wheels a while ago but I just hate adapters.

If it's bolts up then that's another story, but you're talking about a mk4 so pretty much everything would need adapters.
