  • Online purchase gone wrong

So I decided to order a new part for my VW from an online vendor called puma-access. The website seemed legit and I read that another individual had a positive experience with them. As a result, I called them up and placed the order with my creditcard (took a few calls for me to finally get through to them). So far so good right? Well, its been over 3 weeks since I paid for the item and I have yet to receive it.

I've sent them a few emails, but the dude keeps giving me the run around. When I call, the phone rings and rings, but no answer.

    So what are my options?

Can my creditcard company do anything?

Have they shipped or out of stock? Or just being slow?

A friend had some problems with a company not dealing with the shipping damage on some poorly packaged wheels, he called and told him he would be making a Visa insurance claim. At that point, they quickly addressed all the issues.

You should be able to intitiate a charge back through your CC company.

Call them up and tell them that you never recieved the parts and they are not responding to you. Your CC company will credit your bill and investigate it with the merchant and credit your card.

Us merchants hate chrage backs as the merchant rarely wins and they are often not worth the time to dispute.

This is one of the reasons why I buy everything on my card.

yeah, credit card company will be on your side. i've had to do this once with a company that filed bankruptcy shortly after my order. had no problems getting cash back from Visa.

Yup. Call the CC company immediately though as you only have x amount of days to take care of stuff like this!

He said he shipped it out the following day via USPS. Does anyone know if USPS is really slow? It should be a small package if that makes a difference.

After I sent him a few e-mails, he told me that it was stuck at customs or something like that.

            Thanks for the info guys

In my experience USPS is one of the fastest. I had a turbo shipped USPS and it took 4 days from new mexico.

I have had small parcels take upwards of 2 weeks USPS, in fact I have recieved separate invoices from the company before the package arrived in some cases.

                  Re: Online purchase gone wrong

So I decided to try and call the shop once again today and miraculously got through . The guy told me that he sent it out the following day with USPS and has no control over where it is and whats happened to it. He then provided me with a Customs Bar Code Number.

Once I got off the phone with him, I called USPS and gave them the Bar Code Number and they tell me that they have it but don't know when I will get it. They stated that they can't even tell me where it is The customer service operator was completely useless.

Anyone experience anything like this before?

This is what appears when I enter the Bar Code Number ion USPS's tracking confirmation:

                  Status: Electronic Shipping Info Received

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on June 11, 2008 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

I don't know what to do.

I have gotten that notice on most of my last items from the US, never seems to update and then one day its at my door. I guess you just need to wait a bit longer and see what happens, should be here soon as that is nearly a month. However that day is usually when USPS received the tracking info not the package so it could be a bit after too.

yeah, unless you pay for higher class shipping, you really don't have any clue about arrival.

i've experienced it over the last month buying parts from the states. the USPS site only gave info untill the package left the US. try canada post's website, the number you have might work there. if not, you just have to wait it out. i ordered parts from summit racing 3 or 4 weeks ago now and have had no word other than to say it's been shipped....

                        Re: Online purchase gone wrong

I personally buy a lot in the USA. I prefer to use USPS. Even the flat rate standard shipping. Sure it may take 2 weeks for beef jerky to arrive at my door using it this way but its worth it. For more pricey items I ship to UPS warehouse in Sweetgrass. Only an hour drive for me. Well worth it. As long as the item stays in the USA UPSP has always been able to trace it for me. If it is shipped it has a tracking number. Only issue is when it hits the boarder and Canada Post takes over the shipping. Once this is done UPSP cant find it. Plus Canada Post doesnt issue a number for package tracking once they take it. Kind of stupid but thats the way it is. I would recommend to always ship things of value($100 or more or pieces that can be damaged easily) to Sweetgrass.
I should maybe start posting when I go down to Sweetgrass so others can use me to bring back items. I will be ordering more tires soon. So heads up. I will bring them to Lethbridge(my home). People would have to find a way to get items from me.
