Thats true...B5 s4's are probably THE best car ever produced. They will beat most cars on the road and quattro owns everything else out there.

As long as it comes in silver, im down

Re: Government of Canada Harmonizes bumper standard

But would you trust a S4 with Stg3 to be a reliable daily driver? I would love something like this, but from a reliability standpoint, especially in the real cold, I would consider a stock MkV R32.

And yes..... I realize there would be a slight power difference between the two...

any b5 s4 is very reliable aslong as you do the proper maintenance and take care of them.

a mk5 r32 would be quite amazing tho! i'd probably take one over another b5.. but a b7 S4 avant anyday over the r32.. but then again if i had the money i'd buy both of em

Blair said it best in a thread from a few months ago

Well cars like RS4 have both Canadian and US versions so they can be compared and the differences are usually just bumpers, but a car like the R32 that has never been available in Canada is not going to be in the same boat, as the RIV has probably never had one to look at so that may not change with harmonized bumper rules, they may have to crash test to approve which is Transport Canada or VW going to pay for that

Harmonization probably just makes a better case for future cars like the .:R to be available in the future and past cars are probably still going to be forbidden fruit.
            Then I said.....

I think people need to quit dreaming about an R32 in Canada. It's not likely to happen, it's the same thing you hear with the EVO8's. They were never slated for here like Blair said which means changing the bumper standards isn't going to mean anything because no one's looked into what else might not be admissable like seatbelts, steering wheels, emissions, etc.
I have no proof of course, but I still don't think it's going to be that simple.

And I have no doubt there are ways around getting an R32 here with varying degrees of shadyness, and there are a few in Canada (The thread I found the quotes was from the (anyone want a R32? thread).

I'd be happy to see one here and especially in the club, but i'm not holding my breath.

Brand new r32's can be found for under 30k at u.s. dealers right now. Warranty work would be a problem but still. Maybe the wifey needs a new car.....

Better get them fast or the Canadian market is going to drive the price up haha.
