Registering a non-profit?

Anybody know what's involved in registering a group as a non-profit organization? I have a friend on a soccer team who wants to register the team as a non-profit so tax receipts can be issued for donations.

Suggestions?

I doubt it's worth it. You have to file a large year-end return (T3010A), as well as keep full records, etc. It's a pain to do, and for something so small it's not worth it.
