  • The great wheel fiasco

I should be filled with rage, but I think I've been waiting so long that I never expected to get my wheels. To make a long story short, I ordered some custom 19" Work SC-2s from Tunerworks 4 months ago. They were originally supposed to take 2 to 3 months. I just got a call saying that the wheels had arrived in Vancouver, but...

    Work made the wrong wheels.
    Seriously.

Right fitment, wrong style. I was offered a small discount via Work but turned it down and opted for my money back. What a grand waste of 4 months. I am now looking around for alternatives and will never try ordering a custom made wheel again...

    So depressed... :(

Awww what? I really wanted to see them on your car? Do you know if it was Work that made the error?

Too bad the ssr Comps aren't still around on Tirerack.

They have these in your bolt pattern!

Expensive but probably no more so than custom.

That really sucks Yuval, there is someone else around here waiting on some Work's too that has been a while. Seems there are a lot more bad custom wheel experiences then good, which is not good at all.

Yep Tunerworks ordered the right wheel and Work built the wrong one. Selection is so limited for my fitment, but I won't go through this BS again.

            Re: The great wheel fiasco

I ordered my custom work wheels in the first week of April and I was told they would arrive before May long weekend. I was quoted a final price.

Now it seems that I will be lucky to see them in June, and it will be 20% more money. AND I don't even know if they will fit or if the tires they ordered will fit and look good. AND the tires I wanted have sold out since I have been waiting and now I have to compromise.

Mark is trying to help me out with a bit of a deal but overall I am disappointed. If the wheels don't fit properly, I will be freaking out

I am hoping that Tunerworks makes everything OK and that the wheels fit and are worth the wait. But..

If the wheels dont fit... you wont buy them. What good would a lawyer do??
Taking tunerworks to court over something they have no control over?

I think I'm going to order these: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...hracite+Accent

Granted, they're not as nice as the Work wheels and are 18 rather than 19 but they're still pretty solid, and with tires are half the price. Also pretty light at 24 lbs each.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck. I would be insanely pissed.

I suggest you take your time and find something you really love. I think you could find something a little better than the ones you posted.

The SC-1s that were made by accident look similar to those, but I don't really like them. They look too much like factory M3 wheels. At least my chip upgrade arrived today. Perhaps the universe is trying to apologize...

Sorry to hear about the wheels Yuval. I do remember your order when we put it through to Work and we made sure your wheels were ordered properly. If there is something else you need help with please feel free to let me know, we are all super busy at this time of the year, Mark especially, but I will do my best to give you a hand finding something else you will like.

Kris, sorry to hear about your wheels as well. Work wheels have a 4 week build time on them, then have to be sent via ocean freight which is another 4-6 weeks. You shouldn't have been told they would be here in Calgary within the 4 week time unless it was a special circumstance and you paid airfreight on them. In any event, please feel free to call or email me anytime and I will figure out what the status is of your wheels and see what we can do to get them brought in a little faster. Who did you order them through?

Any questions or concerns or problems please feel free to let me know and we will get these sorted out ASAP. Sorry for any inconvience we have caused you guys.

Thanks Jay, but I won't be ordering from Tunerworks again.

I've been talking to Don at Evolve Tuning in California and think I have a set of 19s hooked up. Fingers crossed.

At least things are coming together for you with your wheels.
I'd like to feel how the T5 is which a chip, I bet it would be unreal.
Good news too, the new alignment rack we are getting is recessed so there is no incline to drive on so lowered cars aren't a problem now!

Can I specifically request you when bringing my car in? Needs to go in for a service soon and was considering an alignment.

Evolve wheels eh? Sould be nice, HRE's? Good luck.
