I have a water/meth injection kit coming in the next couple of days, and am wondering where you guys buy your methanol from. Anybody know of any local sources? Thanks!

Windshield washer fluid.

Get the winter stuff. The lower the freeze temp on it the more methanol it has in it.

If you really want to go hardcore put a few jugs in the freezer at home and dump it in right before you may need it (i.e. track).

Last week Canadian Tire had the gallon jugs on for $1.25. I bought a lot.

Most WWF doesn't have enough detergent to make a big difference. The often cited test is to shake the bottle a lot and if significant bubbles form and hold for more than a few seconds then you should try a different brand.

Or you can just run water. It works well enough on its own.

I've been running Costco blue for the last while on the GTI. Once I am more confident that we wont get snowed on or freeze ill switch to straight water.

I have a 'devils own' kit and I really like it.

I got the one with the progressive controller and George did a real nice job of the install.

I'm currently using a 7 gal/h nozzle and it's too big, fortunately the kit came with 3 nozzles so over the weekend I'm going to drop it down to a 3 gal/h.

VAST ended up sponsoring me with their $400 custom kit that resembles the devils-own kit. They sent it overnight UPS so I'll have it by friday for Race City's opening day!

You guys have to be kidding me....this is great!
This whole water/meth injection is a new thing to me, and one that I know very little about.
I was under the impression that I had to buy "methanol" and so I called the Mohawk by the airport today, the one that sells VP109 oct fuel. They want $65 per 20 liters of meth. HA! What a joke.

So you guys are telling me that if I go to Can tire I can just buy the winter washer fluid and that's the same friggin thing?!

Is the washer fluid a water/meth mix, or pure meth with detergent? VAST says that I should mix 50% distilled water and 50% meth....

Washer fluid is a water/meth mix with a little detergent.... but a small enough amount so that it wont do any harm.

My understanding is that the pure winter stuff good to -20 is about 15% meth, 85% water and almost the least detergent. The colder the rating of the fluid the more methanol it contains and the less detergent it has.

That has been the rule of thumb I've been using when shopping for it.
