Gas was about $1.20/L yesterday! Cost me about 60 bucks to fill up last night and I still have 1/4 tank of gas left!

I read somewhere they are paying $12 a gallon for Gas in Hawaii.

i assume thats price/gallon on that chart. i like how bahgdad is 1.19 and kuwait.. sigh
umm hellooooo oil sands.. we need more true production here... my bro works in the industry and from his knowledge all of our oil is actually shipped elsewhere for production thats probably one reason we get owned on it

blair what you said about the cost of everything else.

thats the problem.. everything keeps going up and employer's give people 3-5% raises every year which means people will get poorer and have less real money over time as they are trying to pay for everything because they can't keep up.. really its a good way of population control too because nobody wants to have 3+ kids because it will cost them 8arms and 12 legs lol

that being said i know alot of us on here are quite fortunate to have the cars we drive and houses we own and jobs we keep. lets just hope it continues on a highroad for us all.. i feel bad for those people with no schooling working at 711.. yikes.

also if you think about it.. gas has gone up 25cents since christmas!!! it was 99/100 back a few months ago.

$84 bucks to fill the truck today, and if I'm lucky I'll get 500k on it....If it would stop snowing I'd ride my bike more, which gets 45mpg.....But at the expense of tires....

Its the 70's-early 80's all over again. People trading their big block muscle car for a diesel rabbit. V8 mustangs had 122hp in the mid 70's, because of the new emission standards.

A friend of mine spends roughly $25 per day on gas for his truck. Makes me feel a little better about the mazda.

NO- Biggest joke ever, in the end it costs more to make and is no where near able to meet the demand. It is next to impossible to meet the demand with supply.

                  Re: Gas Prices Rant.

I had to spend $24 to fill the Smart yesterday which was my most expensive fill ever, but I put in Shell Ultra diesel which is more money and I was down to only 2 litres left according to the trip computer, I did get over 450kms on the tank though which is not bad with the colder weather as the electric heater and seats hurt the economy a fair bit.

Thats a good point but I would argue that this has been happening for ages both locally and internationally. Look at the U.S. and their foreign affairs over the last 100 years. They have gone into foreign countries and taken their natural resources for their own benefit and have left those raped countries to starve economically. The rich get richer and poor get poorer.

I have a station thats still 118.4 and its close by to where i live. its a win for people that are close to some of those locations that still have cheaper gas. I think the more hidden gas stations inside the communities have cheaper gas to attract more people...

                              A couple of things:

                              1) The cost of a litre of fuel is heavily weighted by taxes. If I'm not mistaken, 35% of the cost is taxes to various levels of government.

                              2) You can profit from the surge in fuel / oil prices by investing in Oil Companies. If a barrel of oil is headed to $200 over the next several years, there is some money to be made on your investments to offset the price you are paying at the pump.

                                a) the oil that comes out of the oil sands is heavy oil, and costs a considerable amount more to refine into gasoline for your automobile than the stuff coming out of the ground in the middle east

                                b) heavy oil costs exponentially more to get out of the ground than the stuff in the middle east where you have lots of pressure in the reservoirs and the oil seeps out of the ground all on its own

                                c) Canada does not have the market or the refining capacity for heavy oil. As big as we are we simply do not have the demand. A quick look at any pipeline map will show you where in North America everything is going. Chicago. The area around chicago feeds the entire north eastern seaboard, which alone has far more people than all of Canada.

                                d) your pay goes up 3-5% every year due to a cost of living increase. It's called inflation, it happens. The BOC tried to keep it between 2-3%. In Alberta just due tot he growth its around 3.5%

                                e) gasoline at the pump may have gone up 25 cents since christmas, but its gone up $25 on the NYMEX per barrel. Oil is a major input in the price of gasoline, when you have the american dollar tumbling it will automatically raise the price of oil (just due to exchange rates and purchasing power). Oil isn't exactly as high as we think it is, given our purchasing power a few years ago was only 70% of the US, and now is on par. That said when global prices are going up prices of the spinoffs goods are going to raise in price as well.
