Just a head's up if anyone is looking for a GTR - a client of mine has two coming in for July delivery (one white and I think the other is black).

I'm not going to lie - they will be marked up over MSRP.

Didnt Nissan say something about voiding warranty on any car flipped within the first year?

I doubt that would be true. You never know though. Doesn't really make a whole lot of sense though. Why is it in a free market someone can't buy a car and flip it if they desire? If nissan has a problem with that maybe they should make more cars.

Interesting post on Beyond regarding something similiar...

Apparently Nissan is having a lottery type placement procedure... also weighing in past Nissan purchases. (Same as they did with the 350Z)

This could be way off base... but would stop things like this from happening.

Here is the post I was talking about:

"I contacted all Three Dealers in Calgary, To put a Deposit on one and this is what I found Out.

Every Dealer is Only Getting 3 GTR's, For the first Year.....
Then Once you put your deposit down you will be put on a list this is not a first come first serve, so it doesn't matter if you are first on the list or 10th.

Then Once they are on the shipping boats , Nissan Canada will Contact you to conduct an interview.
So this means if you are first on the list and have never owned a nissan you are not likely to get one. But if you currently have an nissan and your wife has a nissan and you are 10th on the list you have a greater chance of getting one.

A buddy of mine at brasso told me that nissan is known for this with every new sports car, they apparently did the same thing when the 350z first came in and now look how many there are."

I don't think there's any truth to the warranty thing. There would be so many legal issues with that.

For example - what happens if someone needs to sell their GTR within the first year because they lose their job and can't afford it? Or because they have to move out of the country? Would the person buying that car lose the warranty based on the fact that it was re-sold within the first year of its release? I don't think so.

but the car placement does make sense with a limited vehicle...

Oh, I heard about the warranty thing, too (I think it was even written about in EVO or another Euro mag) but I just think it would raise too many legal problems not to mention the logistics of keeping track of it all. IMO there will be nothing to stop people.

That said, I could definitely see this happening with cars brought in from the States. But these cars are both Canadian spec vehicles.

Personally, I hate it when cool cars are marked up by a large margin (Audi R8, GTR, new M3) but I understand that there are people out there willing to pay the premium for the privilege of owning one first.
