My university wants to offer me payments now after the fact that they stole my work and have used to print posters with, to download as wallpaper on the internet, and to use on tv. I gave right to another department on campus to use the photo and as the graphic designer used it for that project, he also took the photo and used it on another project stealing someone else's idea along with my photograph. What should I ask for in damages? I want a professional estimate if at all possible.

USD... I would assume so.
What do you charge for such work? If you take them to court... are you in mental anguish? Do you believe that by their taking your work, you have lost up to and/or close to $6000USD? All real-world questions... and I'm sure they will expect real-world answers.

It's good that you talked with other agencies and got their input.... also, it depends on what these posters/images were used for. If they made alot of money, or benfited alot from their use, ask for more.Sidewalks are for normal walkin.... aint no room for fancy walkin....

I meet with the director of the department tomorrow and I am going to ask for $4000 US and to have that picture blown up and placed inside of our library here on campus. I want to leave my name at this school for years to come and I feel this would be a great way to do it. Many people have told me that this picture touched them so I want to try and give that feeling to as many students here as possible.

Shitty news to hear dude. One other thing you should do to make sure that you have all your bases covered is check that they haven't put anything in writing that says anything you produce is theirs to do as they will.
Good luck.
