Re: Surround Sound Home Theatre Receivers

Yeah the speakers are nothing special but they sound better than a lot of the stuff that comes out of a theater in a box and considering the deal that I got them at I am very happy for right now. Just looking for a receiver that will last me a few years and through an upgrade in speakers. That Outlaw Audio seems to have some good deals, what is shipping like from them ?

I used high strand count copper home security cable from Rona/HD which also is code acceptable to wire in wall. I only used 1 for each polarity but many audiophile nuts swear by taking 2 sets for each and just threading them together. Wicked cheap for 20+ foot runs (ie rear sats).

I also have a yam amp that has been just great (aside from being old thus no hdmi). Polk audio R20s and R15s for the corners, infinity center. Cheap sub. Borrow a sound pressure meter to get the balance right.

The Outlaw products are amazing, just remember the preamp products don't have an amplifier stage built in, they are meant for use with separates.

Their cheapest amped bundle would be a 970 processor with a Model 7075 power amplifier (7x75 watt) for $999. :(

I have an older model 950 and a NAD amp.

Shipping was reasonable, the look of the unit is very basic but the focus is on audio quality and features.

Thanks for the info, I will keep looking around and update once I have my choices narrowed down. Once I’m making the big engineering dollars and not intern money I will look more into the high end stuff

            +1 Bluejeanscable
            +1 Yamaha (I have an RX-V2700)
+1 good quality amps are as important as good quality speakers
